Hey guy's like always, I opened my big mouth and now I'm fixing a big mess.My father in-law has a '68 D-100,the cab needs loads of work. The truck was left to him when his father past away.So I have to save as much of the cab as possible...I have 2 parts trucks and know of 4 more in my area. Here are my questions:
What should I remove or repair first?

I was going replace the drivers rocker first then rebuild the area where the door hinges are down into the floor/wheel well. Then remove the windshield pull out the cowl and replace it.

Where should I weld in bracing?
I'd like to pull the whole cab apart but I'm sure that's a bad idea :)
Here's some pic's.....The Yellow truck is the keeper.....The Blue truck is for parts.

I have 2 new rockers 1 NOS rad support 1 NOS tail gate and a bunch of other parts and parts trucks now I just need to figure out what to do first lol.Thank's guy's/Gal's

Man oh man the more I look at it the more I think I should just cut the whole front half of the cab off from the top of the windshield rite down to where the fire wall is spot welded to the floor the do the same to the parts truck and weld it back on the yellow truck...Possible?

yikes, you have a bit more rust/holes in your inner fender than I did when I first started

Id get as many solid panells as you can then best to start where theres most missing from your D100
Where abouts in ontario are you?

Between the 2 parts trucks we have most of the sheet metal we need it's just finding the best way to go at it.
I wish we could just use the Blue truck's cab but if we did it wouldn't really be his dad's old truck any more.

Wish I had before and after pics but I sure had one hell of a time puting all the peices together
Definitly cant get away from rust when the cars we love are 40+ years old

Nothing replaces that sentimental smell of gramps old truck

I had a 68 chevy that was not as bad, but replacing the whole cab was cheaper then chasing rusted out weak metal.

Save yourself the time and money. Deep down after it is painted the old color, it will still be Grandpa's truck.

I thought about just doing a cab swap and getting it in primer asap and just not telling anyone. Is that wrong? lol

if it was easier to swap out cabs, that is what i would do.i'm sure the family members would understand and you are still rebuilding a truck in his memory.

I agree...The blue cab needs floor work but it's still a solid cab and would be a better bet.

if there is anything that is/was special from the cab of the yellow trk,you can always transfer to the other cab.

keep us updated on the trk,we don't see too many people rebuilding them and it's kinda nice for a change.

Joking aside, rebuilding that cab would be more trouble than it worth.
Rust that bad has weakened the structure of that truck to the point where it dangerous if it was ever in an accident.

Trust me, use that other cab and save yourself the grief. I'm sure your grandfather would understand.

Sorry but I have to ask, does that truck have a hydrolic clutch?

Isn't the vin tag on the door post? So if it were done this way you would still have to swap the vin tag. This has been over analyzed in another thread here. I would switch cabs.

Yes it has a Hydraulic clutch.....After crawling all over the truck I found that all 3 have 3:91 sure grips as well,so long story short I'm putting one in my Sundance:) I might also go buy the other 4 D-100's I found on a farm and part them out and keep some suregrips for my self.
