Hi,

I'm helping a friend repair his 63 Savoy. The car got hit at the race track on the passenger side. Some idiot in a 9 sec Monza crossed the center line and instead of lifting, stayed in it and slammed into the Savoy. The same idiot actually owns a body shop and didn't even offer to help fix the damage he caused.

We could try to salvage the quarter panel but it's a mess. I'm looking for a replacement and as you guys know, 63 Plymouth body parts are not exactly easy to find. I'm looking for suggestions on how to find a quarter panel. I've searched via the usual Internet search tools and so far have come up empty. I have another friend who's a paint/body guy and he's willing to help us out if we can come up with a quarter panel. Do you guys know of anyone or yard that might have one? Do you have any suggestions of where I could look? Are there other years/models that would work (e.g. 63 Dodge B body)? Would a 4 door QP work?
Thanks.

I seen a nos qrt national trail $1200.The qrt can be fixed as the door, fender that might be an issue. From the pictures it should be fixed and not replaced.A good tech could have that roughed out and finished for paint in a few days.

Yeah, you're right about the door and fender. We have replacement front fenders and a door all ready to go. The replacement fenders came off a 4 door 63 and I stripped them down, welded up the trim holes, and have them in primer. (see below)

Trying to save the existing quarter panel is definitely the plan if we can't find one. The existing quarter panel has a good amount of mud and some rust in it already but it could be used. That was the original plan. I also have a replacement wheel opening for it so we could use that as well. The $64,000 question is, how much labor is required to fix a badly busted up and rusted quarter panel vs. hanging a replacement one with fewer issues + the cost of the replacement?

Your looking at pulling back glass, vent window, interior trim, and exterior window trim.It all depends on how well the car was restored the first time. You are looking a realistic time of 15 to 25 hours of actual time just to get the qrt replaced.Paint work you should plan for a complete paint job.The only thing you won,t be painting lt qrt, door, and fender.Everything else you be into from qrt replace or for color match. Its a good size job and fairly costly. Most paint companies just raised product prices atleast 15% red colors are nuts in cost.

Actually if the door is rust free I would fix it.The doors are tin cans and can be worked fairly well.
