Where the 67' GTX valve covers originaly chrome or painted?

i'm almost 100% that mopar never put chrome valve covers on any motor from the factory. maybe someone knows better...

but i think they should be engine color (engines were painted as whole assemblies)

My 1984 Omni GLH came from the factory with a "chrome valve cover". As did all carburated 83 1/2 through 86 hi-performance 2.2 motors.

I was thinking that the '64 Plymouth 426 street wedges came with a chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers from the factory.

Little Red Express...

i had a 62 imp i asked the guy i got it from wnere the motor came from he said a 67 gtx that was wrecked factory chrome valve covers painted blue . this was about 1982

67 Chargers with the 440 engine had chrome valve covers from factory

I have seen many GTX's out here as well with them

67 GTXs and 67 R/Ts had chrome valve covers from the factory. If i remember correctly they did not show up again on a factory car (truck) until 1978 on the Little Reds.

My buddy had a 67 Formula S 383 Barracuda back in the 80's and it had the chrome valve covers.

Hey 696pack, were they standard or optional as an engine dress up package?
I have seen them numerous times and knew that they were originals.

I have an original 67 GTX i bought from the original owner with chrome valve covers and I had a 64 Sport Fury with a 426 street wedge with chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner with out snorkles,

I have seen the 67 GTX 440 and Dodge R/T with OE chrome valve covers that were new at the time of the car's production.

You guys need to spend a little more time on the library of the web site I posted above.

Start with YOUR model year car's factory date book, color and upholstery book and you will know what was standard and what was optional for each particular model for that year.
