Hey guys. My name is Ben, and I am thinking its finally time to pick up where I left off 10+ years ago on a 67 Coronet R/T. Was my late father in laws, and he was helping me restomod it. Its been in the family for over 25 years, and before that belonged to my father in laws best friend. I was pretty green when I started this, and had very little car knowledge. Since then, done a few other projects, and now have the means and the skills to finish this thing, atleast to the point of a driver.

A little background on the car. Zero rust, 45k orig miles. Already been primered once, had the rear wheel wells changed to the larger Charger style for tire clearance. Running 295/50R15 in the back. Fenderwell headers, so a big hole in the inner fenders up front. So no plans to do a perfect restoration, but a nice restomod with a blend of the old, with modern suspension/brakes/steering upgrades, and 17" wheels. 440 727. Original color was a copper (I think it was ugly), with black vinyl top.

Plan on doing a medium gray metallic to charcoal gray metallic, with a black painted roof to replace the vinyl top, but keep the look. Black interior.

10 years ago, we rebuilt the 440 .040 over with non original set of 67 heads that already had some porting work, totally detailed it and what not. (Have the original heads still too) Added MSD box and distrib, painted the engine compartment, and went through the entire front suspension, rebuilt it all and painted/detailed.

So I pulled it out of the garage for the first time in 10 years, and started cataloging my parts. Missing a grip of stuff, so I hope its in the In-Laws attic. (cross my fingers), or Ill be spending a fortune on ebay...

First stop, rebuilt power steering pump, then bore scope the engine and make sure theres no rust in the cylinders, set the valves and fire it for the first time in 15-20 years...

welcome, make sure you prime the oil pump b4 you turn the motor over.

Sounds like a great car, great project looking forward to seeing and hearing more..

Ill snap some pictures for sure. Just need to clean the dust off first. Been scrambling around trying to find all my parts, unfortunately some big stuff is missing. Entire center console, and the tail lights/1/4 panel extensions. Some of the stuff was off the car when I started working on it, so maybe it was lost many years ago. Oh well, nothing a little shopping on eBay wont fix.

Welcome from another California guy. Sounds like a great project.......

Nice to see a new Cali. member.......(Welcome). Original color being copper isn't something you see everyday (even at shows). I'd keep it that just for the unusual-ness factor. just my 2cents.

Again, thanks for all the welcoming guys!

Heres a pic of the OG color from 1981 (although not a real good example of the actual color)

And a few pics of its current state

The scoop isnt bolted down, just set there. I have another scoop too, but I think ill sell both and get a RO23 style scoop instead. I wiped it all down and it all looks pretty good. Hood needs some work on the front edge, and the pass rear 1/4 has some primer thats cracking off. The wife likes it primered, so well probably put it back together and running well, and take the kids cruising for a while (while they are young) before we paint it.

And a shot of the process of putting in the rebuilt 440. My first motor build. Ahh the memories.
