My name is Rene, born 1.May 1974 in Lohr am Main (50km to Würzburg or 90km to Frankfurt)

Iam a bodyworker since 1991 at a Mercedes repair shop.

After many many old Opels (GM) i found a 66 Newport at a Oldtimer swapmeet and bought it to my 30s birthday. HT Coupe,383,in good survivor condition.
I have ever dreamed about Charger,Roadrunner,...
2 years ago after intensiv thinking about it,i thought it must be a 1970 Coronet.
After seeing some cars with "little Ohio" rust,i found MY 70s.

Model 440,post,green/black,with a 340 engine.Unwelded, partical repainted, one owner in LA,one owner in germany.Rusted floor pans, the rest of the car is very good.
The last two years it was a rolling restoration.
welding the floor pans, new carpet,TTI exhaust with TTi Headers, new windshild, remanufacture the rearend (from 2.71 to 3.23,sure grip, new bearings,...),many ne bushings, changeing some trims, interior parts,.. for better ones, nad many other things.
This winter i will remanufacture the front end and changeing power to manual steering.

At the moment i am restoring a 69 roadrunner from a friend of mine. The car is complete striped and sand blasted.New trunkpan, rear fenders,....

My/Our big problem in germany:
-only one dealer for MOPAR parts
-the cars A,B,C bodys are very expensive
-cars for parting out are very rare

Best wishes and greetings !!!

RENE

GrussGot! Welcome! When US soldiers were everywhere in Germany we had out US automobiles with us, and, some soldiers left the cars there in Germany. That was a good supply of parts, but now, there's hardly any US soldiers there, and, yes prices are very expensive.

Good luck finding parts, these internet sites here are good sources to find the parts and pieces. Are you all using water-based paints yet country wide? We here in TX have a few yrs to go before we have to use them.

Hey Donny!!!

Buy all the paint yo can get for your money!!!

We have water based pains since 3 years.the first time there was many many problems. But now there are only many problems.
F...... water based sh..!
The joke iss: the basepaint is water based but clear is the old one. There is no water based clear on the planet :icon_salut:
Water based body coat
water based body protection
water based hollow wax !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The water based rubbish is very more dangerous for the lungs then the old one.

All for the enivornment.

Welcome! I was there in late 71 until early 72 and had a 66 Open Rekord, 1.9, 4 on the floor, buckets seats and 4 doors! Thought it was a strange package when I first saw it....

Hey Cranky!

1.9 with unbelivabel 90PS.ROCKET!!!

I drove many of them.

I also have a 1970 Commodore with the magic 2.5 injection :headbang:

Welcome Aboard

Welcome to the Mopar fold Rene. I loved shopping for Christmas presents at a Wurzburg multi-story toy store back in the early 80's. I spent a couple months assisting the engineering efforts at the Rockwell - Alzenau truck brake plant. Truly enjoyed wandering around Germany on the weekends exploring, sight seeing, getting passed by Mercedes, Audis, BMW's going really fast on the Autobahn, etc.

Scariest moment was walking in on a "Ban The Bomb/Missles" protest march in Frankfurt one Saturday. Was heading along a secondary street toward a beer stube for some lunch when I suddenly found myself at a riot police staging area, complete with water cannon trucks and the clear riot shields. Decided to keep my American mouth shut, ducked into a cafe, and waited out the protest over a couple Pils and some Schnitzel (for better or "wurst") - sorry, just my demented sense of humor and 65 yrs of being a smart aleck. Lotsa good times, nice people once they learned I was there on business and not in our military.

Got back again a couple times for work and even took a drive in the old East Berlin area after the wall came down. What a night and day difference East vs West areas.

Anyway, have fun with your Mopar and don't hesitate to post your needs in the "Parts Wanted" section. There's a lot of great folks with years of experience and eager to help just waiting to be tapped in the Mopar forums.

Welcome to the forum!! Do hope you post some pictures... Good luck!

Rene, the water based paints are worse for you and the environment than the normal ones, and clear coat is still solvent based? Wow, environmental kooks!

welcome to the FBBO forum

I had my 19th, 20th and 21st birthday in Germany in the early 70s. Went through a number of cars while there: an old Audi, NSU TTi, Autobianchi, VW bug, and my last car a Simca. It's been so long I can't remember the years on some of them. The audi was a 69 with a "4 on the tree", the VW was a 65. My most favorite for the fun factor was the NSU !!! Super little cars that would really fly and corner like a go-cart.

Willkommen auf der Webseite. Finde mich eine schöne tti zu restaurieren und ich finde Sie eine alte mopar den Handel :)

rene,welcome to FBBO,
i work for WULF GAERTNER AUTOPARTS AG and MEYLE PORDUCTS sister company here in california, i've been trying to get them to carry some parts for the vintage mopars but no-go for now... anyways good luck with the projects and post some photos when you can.!

Hello from germany!

It is interesting how much off you Moparguys spend some time in germany in the past!

Stumper:
I hope you know the actual prices for those special NSU?
These cars are rare like a Hemi B-Body.
And i think you must pay the same price for a restorable car like in the USA for a 68 Charger RT in the same condition!
YES,the drivability is like a go-kart.In the near of my hometown thereis every a popular hill race.About 5km on serpentine roads.Ther drove many NSU with SPIESS engines,Weber carburators and open hoods :love10:

Welcome from Canada. Mine is a 1970. Don't see too many of them, we are running small blocks too, might be turbocharging the next one.
