Love or hate him Davis was a mastermind in his day.

I have no opinion one way or the other. But I know a lot of people have been praying for this day for a long time.

Thought that name sounded familiar.....quit watching football in the early 80's.....

Icon

Who is Al Davis?

Icon, Innovator & leader, also the only man/person in professional football/sports that was an assistant coach, talent/player scout, player personal manager, offensive coordinator, general manager, chief financial officer, league commissioner, inducted into the pro football hall of fame & a team owner... Love him or hate him, love the Raiders or hate Raiders, he was a fine man, did wonders for & helped the community & cities he was associated with, he was the 1st to draft a minority player/quarterback in the 1st round, he was the 1st to have a minority head coach not 1 but 2 before anyone else, {Black} Art Shell & {Hespanic}Tom Flores, the 1st to hire a woman as GM in professional sports & a great football mind & S.F. bay area legend, under Al Davis's leadership the team Oakland/Los Angelos Raiders went to 5 Super Bowls & won 3 of them since he took over in 1963... I for 1 will miss Al Davis 1929-2011 Rest in Piece Al "JUST REST BABY"

Other words, he was a major control freak? :D

Yep

Other words, he was a major control freak? :D

You could say that, he employed "a lot of people" between football & his other businesses...
