Hey everyone I am looking at a 72 sebring plus. It has rally dash 400 4 spd bucket seats dual exhaust no tips and center console. This is from the fender tag ? is is this a rare combo for a satellite

you might want to upload some pics...and a sale price to help others guide you.

The 4 spd is rare for a satellite but the other options are correct for a satellite sebring plus. The sebring plus was the high end satellite. It was basically a RR without the 4bbl.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have any pictures Its basically a rolling chassis floors trunk frame rail good shape probably will need 1 fender and one door and a little work on one 1/4 panel. asking price is 3000.00 with a 1964 383 and auto trans not in car

Some might disagree with me but i think $2500.00 would be a try for price if you could manage it going by what your saying, but i really don't think 3000 is overboard by no means. Its going to need a paint job, after some body repair, what trans gos with it, the 904 or 727.. Engine ready to go or a rebuild.. (400 in it with 4-speed?) Lots of variables, interior in good shape, vinyl top car.. all makes a difference in what it may be worth. Just my 2 cents...

Im just asking is this IN the car, or things that the fender tag says should be in it? and the 383 and auto is to put in it...

$3k seems pretty high for a Satellite with issues. I would offer $2,000 max.

if you are getting the 383/ trans (assuming it's a 727) you could probably sell them off to recoup some $$. You don't want to change the 4spd to a auto.

I agree. Sell the 383/727 and find an early 400 and a good 833 b-body 4spd and put the car back the way it was built. The car is rare because of the 4 spd. I would also keep it looking like a Satellite and keep the 2bbl on the 400. There are plenty of clones out there and a well optioned SSP with a 4 speed will definitely stand out from the crowd. What color combo is the car?

$3000 isn't bad if the body is fairly solid. I paid 3K for my 72 340 RR and it needs a ton of body work.

i paid $8k for my 71 clone. I have about $3k into her it's a 5 footer, but all done.

3k for that?? no friggin way!!!
run forrest run!!!

maybe its me, but
it sounds like a 1500 dollar car at best!
for a 3k 71/72 project it better have a cartoon bird or better on it!

at least you have a chance of getting back quarters on your dollar then pennies!

a 64 383 is a dog motor with out some good bucks poured into it
and its worth a couple hundy for the block on a sunny day.

a rolling chassis missing alot of parts will nickle and dime you to death!!!
the only way a car like that even becomes anyway feasable is if
you are sitting on most the parts it needs already..

If your buying it and If that is set up for a 4-speed, i would go with one... More fun, value gos up...

Here is what a fender tag looks like, picture from Google Images, and im sure someone here could decode it for you, maybe it will help you in this... You can also go to mymopar.com and they have a decoder..

Some photo's of the car would be nice.
I like the "rally dash 400 4 spd bucket seats dual exhaust " part of the description personally.
If the body was reasonably sound with a good color, I don't think 3k is that bad.

I also agree with the early posts... get rid of the 383 auto if this is a 4 spd car.
heck, i know where there is a car I like which has a rebuilt 400 in it... but I don't want the motor

this car isn't half of that car!

i think its the orange 72 in the for sale section here
thats been flipped around a bit and the good parts are long gone.
i know because the airgrabber hood that was on it
is in my garage now...:icon_twisted:

strip off that 80's body work and the metal bills will pile up on
that car faster then a fat kid on a plate of cupcakes.....

think about the nice blue 71 rr clone here just bought for 8k

someone go look at that 72
and come back tell me how far your 8k will get you on that car!! lol

First off thanks everyone for there reply's. What he is asking and what he might take are usually to different things (will see) All info came from fender tag I believe the color is gold from tag car is red now. Yes running 383 and good 727. I plan on keeping it a 4 spd
Biggest reason I wanted to know rarity is I want a car I can make the way I want it without worrying about messing up a rare bird (intentional pun)

that's why i bought the one i did. i have no problem with it being a clone, i always call it a clone or a "satty". but i didn't want to worry about ruining the integrity, or worry about taking my wife out to dinner and leaving in the parking lot. good luck w/ your search! i looked at 3 satellite sports 2 were bagded RR's. but the prices were in the $15k range, and needed full body work, 20 footers at best. Then mine appeared on CL in NY State asking $9700, his pics of it were horrible, taken at sundown. Rolled up there w/ a trailer and $8000 cash. 90 min. each way and lucked out.

you didn't mention if this runner was a 4spd or auto.

That is completely wrong.
Satellite Sebring Plus came with
318 2 bbl w/auto
400 2bbl,w/auto
400 4bbl with auto
BUT the 400 4speed can ONLY be a 4BBL steel crank engine.

It is a Road Runner without the badging and insurance premium
Ron.
