Hi
Rob in Ridgecrest Ca checking in. This week I stumbled into my first B-Body Mopar! I had found a '69 Charger in a back yard which turned out was beyond my means to buy (somebody in Fresno Ca. got it). There was also a '65 Corvair 140 hp 4 carb Monza I was looking at....but it was home to feral cats and smelled like it. Then I spotted a '62 Savoy Wagon.....did a walkaround, seller mumbled "I'll take $500 for it". Oh, well okay I guess I'll take it...twist my arm some first though will ya?
Got it home yesterday, started cleaning 16 years worth of dirt and junk out of it. It's got a newer slant 6 in it, the original engine blew up. The PO started to install the new engine but stopped and there it sat until I wandered by. It was originaly dark brown with dark brown guts. Now it's a faded and peeling red. Interior is in fairly good shape, dash pad is toast (desert sun will do that) seat upolstrey is still (surprisingly) in great shape. Carpet is toast, one rust spot by the gas pedal....probably the wiper seals leaking as there was water there after I washed it. Side windows go up and down okay, tailgate window does not. No keys (PO lost 'em) so I'LL have to get a set made. Once I get the back window down, I can find out what's lurking under the "trunk panel". I threw some tires on it as the old ones wouldn't hold air and looked like they'd blow out any second!
So that's where I am at the moment. Now, I suppose you guys want some pics....right?
This is where it sat since 1993.
The seller was kind enough to deliver it.
Data plate, built July 10th 66th car built that day (if I'm reading it right?)
