413 crate engine?

(You might want to head on over to the Welcome Wagon and say hi. Everyone likes to know who they're dealing with and are a lot more friendly once you've introduced yourself. :)) Just a thought.

As for the engine, I'm not too sure, but someone else will chime in!

There are soooooo many options better than a 413. I have one( dual quad) but I would never choose it as an option again. ASK around. DONT DO IT

There's a 413 block for sale on Ebay right now. I think it ends on Saturday.

Dave

There's no re-placement for displacement!!!!!!

413's went out with the dinosaur. They're still good engines but not as economical to build as a direct replacement 440.

they stopped putting 413 in cars early 60's i think but if you're going crate motor, the 440 would have better parts accessibility.

A 413 would be period correct for your '62, though. That may make it worthwhile for you if that's what you're going for. Let's face it, if we were all about economy, we'd all be building Chevy 350s, wouldn't we? Having something different and cool is what driving a Mopar is all about. A 413 in a '62 is cool in my book. Nothing against 440s, though - a righteous mill, without question.

Your best (and maybe ONLY) chance to find one would be one intended to be used as an irrigation motor.

True, and I should qualify that by saying it's only the pistons that are not easily available.

I am resurrecting my old 426 max wedge for my 69 RR (with six pack) only because I had the block for 25 yrs and it's a part of my early life.

Thanks to everyone for your replies! Just kicking around some options, wanting to do the right thing. Rebuilding the #s matching engine might be the best option.

There's a 413 block right now on e-bay for 199.00.
