I've got a 73 roadrunner 400 4 speed. A couple of years ago I purchased on ebay a complete power window setup from a 73 Sat. Everything, switches( I have nos ones) door panels, regulaters, motors,(I have nos ones) harness ect. What I am wondering is how big of a job is this to do? I am mechanical, have all the tools, but I get very frustrated when things don't go right!! It's a 4 window setup but if possible I will use just the front as my rear windows are fixed. My car is completly restored. ( I didn't have this setup when restoration was done) If I don't attempt to do this project myself does anyone have any idea what I should expect to spend to have a professional do this? And if there are any b body members in the central Mass area thats willing to do this ( I pay very well for good work). Thanks guys. Dennis

By the way I have tons of parts for 71-74 b body's that I would be willing to trade for work on my power window setup, (lots of nos) not so much sheet metal but some. But seriously I have just about anything someone might need for 73,74 roadrunner's and chargers, as I also have another 73 rr and a 73 rally charger and my kid has a 73 and 74 roadrunner. All 400 4 speeds all matching #s however my favorite 73 (need power windows done) has original engine bagged and tagged and has a 499 stroke with hemi trans in it now. Thanks Dennis

Mechanically it’s a regulator swap and pretty simple. The challenge for a completed restored car is that holes will need to be cut in the door jambs and doors for the wire looms. May require removing the doors in order to use appropriate sized hole saws for the factory looms. I made the conversion during my restoration while everything was apart.

Thanks, ya I was afraid of that, I was hoping maybe a small angled drill may be able to be used instead of taking door off but I know thats not likely. Thanks again. Dennis

I am a long ways away from you, so physically helping is pretty much impossible. I do have a '74 service manual though-I can scan and email you appropriate info if you want? If you decide not to do the rear windows, I might be interested in purchasing the rear regulators if you decide to sell them-I am converting my '74 Charger over to power, my rears are movable and the 2 sets I've acquired so far are front window only (from SE cars). I would think that Charger and Satellite/RR would have basically the same measurements, so if nothing else, I can get you dimensions to locate the holes off my '74 SE parts car.

Yes thank you, I too have 73 service manual , I also have a 73 rally charger that the windows go down, how nice is your setup? caus I may consider trading (seems a shame for one of us to cut and the other splice) Dennis

Locationing the correct position of the necessary holes for the original window harness shouldn’t be too much of a challenge as there are dimples locating them in both the jamb and door. The hole sizing is staggered however, with larger grommets molded to the harness at the jamb locations and larger sizes on the driver’s jamb/door than the passenger side.
What you may do on your completed car is pull the inner fender splash shields, that cover the hinge area. You may have a straight shot at the door for drilling and a possible right angle shot at the jamb from the front fender wells. Another option for accessing the jamb would be removing the dash frame and cutting the holes from the inside out.

I can get you some pics if you want. I have it all but pulled now-I popped the switch plugs apart and removed the harnesses through the holes a while back and have it laying in the car now. My switches are original, so yours are definitely nicer. I'll send you a PM with my email address so we can talk about it offline. The fenders are off the parts car now, but I can rehang them to see if the holes can be drilled with fenders in place and splash shields out if that will help you too.
