Alright has anyone repainted their rallye dash to freshen it up. The brown from the woodgrain on mine has come off in a few areas and needs to be redone. I did a Duster dash a while back by spraying brown and then a light streak dusting of black to enhance the woodgrain. Has anyone done this that can recommend the paint and process to use?

My bodyman painted it, so I cannot really tell you what he did? I love how it turned out though.

Here is mine, I wanted it darker then just the tan, so I took flat black paint and thinned it just as you would to use it with a paint gun, I then took a rag dipped in it and gently whipped it over it until i got it the shade i was happy with. The small shine to it is nothing more then Armor-All to give it (to me) just a little shine... More you rub, darker it would get.

Here is what mine looked like sitting in the car to see what it would look like with the dark against the white faced over lays i put in, i had the flash on so the new lights didn't show up in this one. I do have a picture of the P-side piece if your doing that to match, if you want to see it.. This picture really seems a tad darker then it really looks like, at least a daytime picture with it installed.

You might want to contact Mr G in Fort Worth from Mr G's fasteners. He does the rechrome on those parts and used to repaint until he lost his painter. Now he sells the whole part rechromed and the tools and supplies to do the repaint yourself.

I was just called Mr G's last week. He no long has an outsource to rechrome and plate the dash panels. The company that he used to use is no longer in business and he is no longer doing dash clusters.

John Manush out in Iowa does fantastic cluster restoration work - PM me if you want his email address and phone numbers. But Ron 73's DIY technique is looking mighty fine, too. :sSig_goodjob:

Looks great, I know it's the wrong area but I have 2 nos dashes for sale one for 71-73 and another for 74 only slight difference between the 2. PM me for more info.

G can be such a fruit sometimes. I bought a painted one there 5 months ago and he had 3 or four more on the shelf.

71ChallengerSE needs some pictures, maybe you could post them.. What is the difference between the 71-73 and the 74? Im curious i thought they were the same design..

thanks..

Great so far, keep 'em coming!

71ChallengerSE.. Thanks for starting this, im gaining a little in-site into some things, like our clusters the gauges are a little different in the Chargers, same year? or are they the same and the one i seen somewhere was a DIY one.. I think some came with tachs where some had clocks to, im just guessing or asking maybe, ive seen both and different looking gauges in these though.. I hope some more post as i believe it was Rev that painted his black, i seen one that looked real good a Argent silver to.

I have seen many different ones 120 and 150 spedos, clocks, tachs and split oil/fuel. Just depends on the car and the options. My RR was coded for a tach and my Satellite was not and came with a clock but other than that they are the same both with 150 spedos.

I hope more people post up too, go ahead and post other colors and textures too other than woodgrain I would enjoy seeing what others are doing, like Rons white face set.

If you get interested enough with those white faced ones, there simple to do and it takes more time to tear it down to do them, but i do have the site, and thats the same site i bought the red (in my case) LED lights, For the record for anyone the only time you need change anything else but the bulbs, is if you want brake and turn signal bulbs, then you have to change the 4 way and the turn signal flashers under dash... Other wise its pull old out and put new in.. Thanks for leaving the info for me sir! Ill try to find the argent silver one if i can, i did have it saved before i did it my way..

Your quicker then me typing lol, Ok i have seen them like that, But with mine that second one is fuel tank indicator and oil pressure...

I've amassed all sorts of set ups in an effort to come up with a 150 speedo and tach.

I have a decent woodgrain cluster with the factory radio in tact, and a chopped up one that I did in a satin black.

I really like the idea of the white-face gauges and some LEDs. Ron, how did the RED LEDs turn out? I thought about doing red or orange since I have a black/orange interior.

They turned out great, My camera is a cheapie and to take a picture you have to shut the flash off and there always blurry, Thanks and i think you can get any color bulbs.. This is about the best i can show you, it all wasn't done but you can see the lights well enough, the fender turn signals red also. Much sharper and easy to read sitting in the car. No tach built in mine, Its usually on steering collum, with a red light as well as all my gauge lights. :)

The only difference between 71-73 bezels and 74 is on 74s there is small icons next to light switch and wiper switch that iluminates. I don't know how to put pics on comp. but perhaps I can get my son to help me.

Thanks runner, i must have the 74 because although you cant see them in the blurry picture, they light up as well.. Please do put in a picture, 71ChallengerSE wants to see them and it would help him with this repaint....

sorry

Im sorry for forgetting, you didn't ask for it but i should have left you and anyone else the link to this stuff. I got my LED's the same place as over lays. Don't let the Dodge Charger fool you, The lady i spoke with is very helpful and i asked her why they didn't separate these as Plymouth and Dodge, If you get this kit, you will get more overlays then you need as they add both Charger and RR/Sat.. I gave what i had left to a member here, if you have a Charger and a Plymouth, what a deal.. lol. She said there was like 3 times they wouldn't work and had to return the money or replace them and thats because they didn't do it right.. There isint much to it but because of transparency you have to have them exact, or you can get shadows from underneath.. and being clean is a must! I have no complaints on mine. Good luck to any who gos with this, price is right... Wow, I may as well have tried to find my thread when i did these things, save some typing :)
