I don't know if I have lost interest in my car or just worn out from the heat after work. It seems like I have to force myself to any work on it and I feel bad about it. I have ben planing on putting my starter in for the past 4 weeks and it isn't done yet and I have a few other things that need done and it will be pretty much ready to start and drive. I am hoping that its just a passing issue that rights itself shortly.

You need to walk away from it for a while !!!

Take a break. I usually go in spurts. I will accomplish a bunch of things, take a break (partially waiting on parts) then jump back into it.

i'm sure alot of it is the heat after working all day, cause sometimes i feel that way myself.Let the temp drop a few degrees and you'll get your energy back.

Good advice by all....Walk away if you're not feeling the vibe to work on it. After awhile you'll get the itch again.

it's the heat. one good thing about winter. gives me a break form the cars.

I can relate, I've been procrastinating for a while now, I have a ton of parts, I could be installing, that I haven't...

it`s the friggin heat work ten hours then go out and want to work on something and then the heat wave , I would like to make my big barn climate controled 65-70 degrees:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

I know the feeling, with this heat its real hard to get motivation! Some nights I go out and no matter what I touch turns to sh.....t other nights everything is just perfect. You know how it goes, were not kids anymore!!!

I can remember back in the early 70's when I built my first car. I laid on gravel with a flash light and installed a small block 727 in a 66 Valiant after working a 12 hour shift in the steel mill, of course I was 23 years old too.. Its different now at 62, you want to relax and yes I have parts I could be installing and could be very close to finally getting the car on the road....Oh well...maybe this weekend....:icon_confused:

What I do is one thing at a time.starter one day.Done next day do the next thing on the list.Or take as long as you need. Here's a good one .Worked 15minutes straight!! Need a coffee break.

Red, I'm a stone thrown away from you in NY.... Come join me... My wife always saying ,I'm doing nothing around here......:icon_fU:

Its the heat Red. Know how you feel. Took my tranny out in 90 deg. weather. Just feel burned out. Taking on two Yankee/ Boston Games this weekend. Sometimes you need a rest.

The heat is awful i go in spurts work on the charger for a few days then weeks off then a few days working,my shop is brutally hot got dozens of fans and just no relief. Plus the aches and pains are getting worse as i get older i used to love doing this hobby [and still do] just can't support the activity with this worn out body.

You just need to chip away at it till it's done.Sometimes after only 10 or 15 minutes after getting into the garage and turning everything on,I get a call and just drop what i'm doing and s'daddling down the road.

i can only speak for myself...but...ITS THE HEAT. after a day of sweating in a building with no moving air all day...i get home and everyday is christmas with the package deliveries on my porch. i have every good intention on doing what i have to on both Mopars....and find myself sleeping on the couch instead. youre not alone. besides the fact that most of us are 50 or older does not help that situation. oh to be 23 years old again!

Take a mid-day pause (if you can) at a place like Bikini's (here in Texas), like a 3 hr lunch (like I sometimes do), tends to refocus your focus, and charge up your batteries!

I tell you what saves me when I get like that. Workin on little stuff. Like detail work. Maybe trim or somethin really small. Somethin you can fix and do a good job on and get it DONE in a short amount of time. It'll boost your confidence.

Then come on over, I will put you to work and maybe, just maybe we can get something accomplished...you can do a few of the easy things while I work under the car....:toothy5:

I hear ya. Tomorrow is the initial fire up of my 1966 Plymouth Satellite project. I finally made it after 7 plus years of doing this project. There were some down times where a few months lapsed. But after returning back home to CA 1 year ago, I took a sabbatical from working and started focusing on getting this project running. I still have a ways to go but for all intense and purposes, the car will be drivable and legal now. But it has worn me out. Because of that my Golf Teaching business and game have suffered along with these old bones...63 years young. Still had to crawl around on concrete to do it but I now can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will finally have "MY RIDE" built and it is done my way. When all is said and done with it, I will keep it and drive it until I no longer can. Then give it to my Nephew when I no longer can drive but that is a ways off. What I have come to realize though is that I will never do this again. This is the last of working and building MOPARS. And without deep pockets to pay some one else to do it, that this is the last one. Kind of bitter sweet but now that I am older, all I want to do is just drive....
