the first few are floor pans and last few are the trunk pans...i think car was white a one time...the floor pans are white..

Good luck! My '72 DS floor was rusted pretty much just like yours and had been "patched" with a Speed Limit sign, with a Residents Parking Only sign and a No Parking sign over that, all held together with Liquid Nails. This is called "hillbilly sheet metal welding."

A real floor pan from Rock Auto took care of that nonsense. (They've got FPs for your 70 Belv, too, $50 a side.)

You will need to get some pans for that. If you want to drive your car for the rest of the season, put a piece of sheetmetal in the driver side and screw it down for now, be careful not to drill into your brake/fuel line. This repair ain't going no where, give yourself some time to get ready to do it right, small steps, patience, no one is going to know at the cruise in unless you tell them! BTW, I've got a car with a street sign in it and I will get to it sooner or later, but right now it doesn't hurt a thing, just sayin..............

Nope, the patch is paid for by your taxes, so WTH. :happy7:

Just watch out for anyone using Liquid Nails as the "weld" because it's water-based and introduces even more rust to rust. :icon_confused:

Just remember when you do get the pans out, that is the time to inspect all around and fix/repair what you can since the floor won't be in your way.As for the front pans, since they are as rusty as they look, when you take them off i gonna say your frame there might have some rust on them.Anytime you remove a piece take a look around for what you can clean, grind, sand to prep it for rust proofing.

i got rest of interior out...and as i thought the back floor boards are same as front...the rubber floor mat held alot of water and ruined the pans...its crazy though cause i went through car and its isolated to thes spots ...the rails and bracing is ok and the rockers are solid and ok...just floor pans and trunk pans..

so is this the original floor pan? it has the seam right in front of rear seat and almost in middle of rear floor pans... wasn't sure if thats how they did them or not...

Yeah those look like the original factory pans. Check out the left and right full size pans. Your tunnel is good so you don't need the complete pan if you don't want to go that way. Look through some of the restoration threads...

i talked to a fab shop and they said 30 bucks a hour and they will fix top notch...debating if thats the route i wanna go...not sure how many hrs it will take for floors and trunk...plus cost of pans...it might be best to do myself with my dads help...

i found a old *** onion under the back seat..lol...the onions shell is the size of a baseball and a lil dried up onion ball inside..lol...you never know what u can find in a 42 yr old car.

$30 an hour is a very good rate. See if you can lock them in on a maximum price, you can purchase the pans yourself. Bolt your drivers seat in and take the car to them to look at, let them pick out the pans they want to install out of the AMD catalog. You may need some of the bracing under the floorpans also. Get everything you will need so all parts will be there when they start. Check out some of their work while your there. If you do go with them, make sure you set a timeline for the work, and whatever you do don't go for the "we will work on it when we get time" BS, you may never get your car done. I'm sure they will want some money up front, and thats OK, just don't give em too much. Good Luck and be carefull if you don't know these guys.......BTW, I think Year One has their carpet sets on sale!

My quarter-pan (DS front) took about 3 hours for the shop guys to weld in and rustproof... grinding old steel back to weldable parameters was part of it too. So you might not be looking at a wallet-killer after all, between affordable pans and that $30/hr rate!

hope so...i dont mind putting money into it just dont wanna spend a ton...the guy i got car from said the floors were perfect..lol as u can see there far from it...

Perfect as far as watering the inside of the car when it rains? That kinda stunt happens way too often, people hiding stuff or "forgetting to tell you". I'd send the pic's to him and let him know I want a grand back to replace the floors. Feel for ya. If you lived close enough I would come over and swap the floors out for ya. Next go around, i'm sure checking the pans will be at the top of your list.. What a punk. Another soul lost to the devil I guess.

Maybe he meant they were "perfect" candidates for replacing.Have the shop give you a time they will charge you for replacing the pans.As in how long(hrs) it will take them to remove and replace the pans.Right, left, front, and rear pans.I know some shops that charge twice that rate and more.

i looked car over in rain at show bottom looked ok just 2 rust holes on back pan...theres some gray coating on bottom they put and u couldnt tell...they put new exhaust on it not long ago so i know they seen it..the guy was in a crazy rush when buying car...he didnt wanna stop long and kept me in car alot looking for a notary to do title...guess i had blinders on cause i liked car...ill tell ya next time im gonna do a thorough check and take to shop and put on lift..overall im happy with car but still a lil pissed..i new the trunk needed work but the rest was a surprise...all i gotta do is find a person to weld in pans and im good..i cleaned and grinded alot of the rust off and theres alot of good metal under it..so thats a plus

i looked on amd and they got whole pans half full length or peices...not sure which one to go with....i need enough metal to do the complete front and rear pans..i looked on yr one and all there pans are 20 guage aint that a lil thin? which pans and style would u recommend?

heres a crude pic i made...fig red cut out and rest i keep..if i cut red out and keep rest would that be a good route to go?
