Where were you the year your car was born?

Still in my dad's balls. Had 5 years to wait for a shot. :sex:

My present Mopar is a 67 Dart. In 67 I was "waiting to be drafted" which happened on a cold, rainy November (67) night after I had just walked about 5 miles to fix a broken U joint in my 57 Chiv. My Mom handed me the envelope when I came in the Kitchen door. I was wet and miserable after having crawled under the car to pull and replace the shaft and walk in the rain for parts.

I showed them though, no U *** Army for ME!! I joined the Navy, got electronics training (6 yr hitch) and spent 4 of it at N.A.S. Miramar, that's "Top Gun" to you.

Almost everyplace I've worked or been stationed is closed. NTC at San Diego, Treasure Island, NAS Glynco, GA, and Miramar is a Marine Air Station.

My Dad's parts store where I worked got bought out and went bankrupt, as did the next one, the old HVAC/R guy I apprenticed at retired and closed, and the Motorola shop in Spokane where I worked went TU

But your 67 keeps rollin.:headbang:

One reason that I went from Chovet to Mopar in the first place was broken parts. In fact, that is the reason the first owner of my 70 sixpack RR bought that car. He is a friend of mine, and previously had a warmed over 65 Chevelle. During the time I knew him and that he had that car, he and I replaced a number of impressively broke parts.

One story in particular

We were going to Navy school at Treasure Island, and one Saturday morning were down in Oakland somewhere. I have no idea. This Chevelle had a 67 Camaro 350 out of a wreck, 350 hp cam, and a 3.36 10 bolt. This is long about fall of 68 or spring of 69

Here is a kid in a 57 Chev. I can still remember telling George "watch out for this kid."

He wants to know why.

I said, "his T shirt is greasy, he's been workin on it."

So we danced up to the next light and took off. Georges little Chevelle had a close ratio Muncie and with those 3.36's he was in first for a LONG time. The kid next door was rowing that Chiv like it had a 20 speed. Finally George decided to go for "the big second" and all HELL broke loose.

It broke the pinion of the 10 bolt right in half, and **** the driveshaft right out the underside of the car.

This was the SECOND 10 bolt he'd broke. The FIRST was on the bay bridge.

During the time I knew him and that car he broke

2 10 bolt rears

Broke a Muncie input shaft in half

at least two clutches, one of which I got to replace with one set of wheels on a curb up in Oregon.

Allentown, Pennsylvania 1969. I remember walking by Anshant Dodge at
18th and Tilghman Streets on my way to school. Good place to be from. I also remember a Daytona being left outside overnight there on the lot.

humph; i have 1 that pre-dates me, 1940 coupe, i have one that dates me, 1950 f-1, i have a 1953 500 cc single lung royal enfield, i have a 67 500 vert, i have a 63 mopar land yacht.
that brings me to the hemi coronet, 69. i had just quit working at my dads plumbing shop, dumb, and started driving truck, not quite as dumb but dumb. but hind-sight being 20/20 it was a good life experience, and 1 wife, to todays end.
i am sure there are a couple more, oops, 95 ultra classic, but lifes been good. t/y

p.s.; it beats the alternative. lol

well, the '66 Belvy II was made in '65...so i was one year old and really didnt have much say in the matter at the time.

the 70 Road Runner is a different story. i took a trip to St. Louis at the age of 5..( it was built in '69 ) and met with the brass at the St. Louis plant and told them that SOMEDAY i was going to buy that purple Road Runner that i saw on the line and told the dudes there to put it together right....or ill be back .

I was living two blocks from the dealership were it would be sold to one of the origional owners of the Cincinnati Bengals. No, NOT PAUL BROWN as the B.S. stories you have heard claim. Tom Kneer was also the dealership where the Bengal Chargers were sold. It was a great place to be living if you were into MOPARS and I WAS!!!!
This was my 70 Super Bee by the way.

Jan 69' i was 2-1/2 probably crying about not being able to take a ride in poops car :)

1969 I was 19 yrs old and loving everything about the car culture in the late 60's..amazing at my age.

BTW I am really surprised at the number of our members over 60 years old.

My car was built in December of '63 at the Lynch Road plant. It was shipped to a dealership in Tampa, FL on December 23rd. I was just about to have my first birthday. We were living in Latham, NY then.

I was 5 years old living in the Taylor street neighborhood in chicago , probably eating alot of italian ice and playing in fire hydrants in the summer.

I joined the AF when I got my draft notice. I wasn't about to go in the Army lol. I had a 'fleet' of 65-66 Mustangs during the mid 70's and got rid of them and went BACK to Mopars when the Mustangs kept breaking things. A buddy of mine spit his driveshaft out of his car and when he went back to pick it up, the pinion gear was still attached to it! Ever had a pedal rack come apart? Happened twice on my 66 Fastback. Fixed it with all Ford parts the first time and on the second time, I fixed it my way. Only thing bad about the clip coming off and the brake pedal main shaft moving towards the right and the left side of the shaft gets pulled towards the floor by the counter spring is you don't have any brakes when that happens. The pedals end up being crocked and that puts the MC push rod in a bind. Nice going when you are going all out and are in the top of 3rd and going for 4th and then needing to come to a stop soon. I don't need that kind of grief.

It was a great time and I'm amazed that I made it past 60 lol

69 RR,i was 8 yrs old so i was probably riding my bike around the farm or "chasing the enemy down" in the woods.
71 & 72 chargers,I was 10&11 yrs old so i was probably riding my bike around the farm and still "chasing the enemy down" in the woods. In the summer i would have mom take me to town to the swimming pool and then she would come back and pick me up at one of my best friends place. He's retired after 24 yrs in the coast guard and lives out in the san diego area.
76&77 volare we just moved from one farm to another one in a different town and had to make new friends, that was when i really started getting into cars. This was in iowa where i was born and raised and still live.

My car was built in the fall of 68,I was 3 1/2 years old.actually dont remember much from that time, but when I was 12 my neighbor had a 69 roadrunner,he was selling it when I was 15.Mom said you dont want to buy that car it will use to much gas, being a good son i let that one slip away and instead bought a 68 dart with a slant six.
