Who makes the best performance/race muffler? I am almost finished with my car, it will be used for the street and strip, and fortunatley we do not have any crazy cops running around my town looking to bust hot rod guys!!! I'm not looking for the most expensive or shiniest, I just want something that will sound good and perform when I am ready to run it down the track... I would prefer a straight through muffler. Cut-outs? Anyway, Thanks in advance for the help!!

Any of the straight through glass pack designs (Dynomax, Cherrybomb etc.) will be your best bet for performance, ie minimum backpressure. Last research I did for mufflers that could be used ont he street it looked like the Dynomax Ultraflows were the best in terms of minimum backpressure. I have these on my car now. Of course cut outs would be the best bet for when you do want to race. Stay away from any type of chambered mufflers.
 
Dynomax ultra flo round mufflers and probably there oval sound awesome. Nice deep aggressive tone had one on my neon srt4 turbo and it rumbled course it was I single 4" dump but sounded awesome but they do get loud when you get on it.
 
The Cherry Bomb Extremes are a good, cheap one chamber race muffler.
 
I decided to go with the Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded... They sound good and were $90 each from Jegs. Thanks again for the help.

That's what I went with recently too. I replaced some Flowmasters to reduce the backpressure. I was really amazed when I started doing the research just how big a difference there is between chambered and straight through. It makes sense when you think of it but I guess I was dupped into equating sound with power for so long.
 
http://www.classicchambered.com/ I've also seen these as a homemade setup. you just take a bit larger pipe than what you are running and find a muffler shop that can do crimps. More crimps=more quiet. I run straights on all my junk and have never got a ticket. If you do it right, they can sound good or as nasty as you want. Of course, the more power you have, the more you have to 'engineer' it....
