Hey! I'm a new poster to the site, been lurking for a while, looking for parts for my car etc.

I bought a '69 Coronet R/T recently(September 2012) and have started the long process of restoration.
It's got the numbers matching 440, its non-six pack, and has the factory D59 code Dana 60 rear with factory 4.56 gears, and an A727 transmission. It's also super god damn rusty, seems like the guy who drove it back in the 70s and 80s took it out in the snow alot. It has rot in the rails underneath the trunk, the unibody struts underneath both doors, a large rot hole right behind the drivers seat and a couple fairly large rot holes in the drivers side footwell aswell as a couple of spots in the pass. side footwell. I need to put a roof skin on it as well as a fender, an entire trunk floor, a tail panel, and 2 quarter panel skins.

I havent checked yet to see whether or not the glass is original, but I suspect everything except the windshield is orginal. I found the broadcast sheet(rather tattered, yet still relatively readable), and figured out that it is supposed to be B7 blue(I think its B5 right now), it is a factory Rallye dash car with a factory tachometer, factory heater, factory radio(missing from the car), factory bucket seats non console with auxiliary middle seat, and it has a Dana rear(as aforementioned).

Some things I want to do to it to upgrade it from '69 technology much later in the restoration are:
-Tremec TKO 600 5 speed transmission swap
-All tubular K frame + suspension, coilovers, torsion bar elimination. Leaf spring elimination in the rear
-Edelbrock Victor series max wedge heads as well as a very big cam.

Right now it is just sitting in my driveway underneath 2 tarps, since I have yet to clean out a space in my garage for it(shame on me yes I know), but this winter I plan on getting everything stripped off, all the paint stripped, and cut all the metal off I need to, as well as replace some if I'm financially able to.

I don't have many pictures of it, but here are the good ones I have(Captions at the top of each page):

WOW! A 440 Automatic car w/ the DANA?
Nice!
Usually the DANA is with the 4-speed or Six Pack / Hemi
(And even then, not always a given, some Hemi autos have a 8 3/4")

PS: I LOVE Coronets!

Let me congratulate you on your excellent choice of cars! I track 69 coronet R/Ts and would love to know more about the car if you don't mind sharing.

welcome to FBBO

Thanks for all the welcomes guys! I can give more info on the project for anyone who is interested, simply PM me!

To others who couldnt find the D59 code axle, I found it here: http://www.genocide2600.com/~traviso/mml/bodydecode.html#d

I have an inner fender for the car just wating to go in, I just need to get the car in a garage! :sad1:

D59 would be a valid code for 69 but the gears would be dealer installed; not factory. What documents do you have showing the D59 rear end? Broadcast sheet? Window sticker?

Broadcast sheet.
Basic car is D53, but the second axle code in the build codes section is D59

Are you saying that on line two of the BS under D AXLE is says 53?
Are you saying the AXLE code on line four says D59? Normally, you would find 593 or 595 in that location.
Interesting...can you post a picture of this portion of the sheet or where are you finding a D code outside of line 2?

Okay, so, D53 is code in the second row, the car actually has a Dana 60, probably swapped in, I know because Ive been under the car.

The 4th row axle code says 59-something, cant read the last number because of a tear in the BS.

Doesnt have stock Dana, although it has a Dana right now.

Just was a case of torn up BS confusion.

D53 = the standard 3.23 gears in an 8.75 rear end.
Axle assembly code 593 = standard axle assembly for 3.23 gears w/o sure grip. 595 = 3.23 with optional SG.

Confusion happens.

Good luck with the car.

welcome aboard and good luck with the build. you have started off on the right foot joining here. there is a world of mopar smarts on here. i to have a 69 coronet 440.
