i just looked at the links, looks like the price differance is coming from them being made by 2 different companys. Both are good tho,i use fel-pro personally.

I have some parts off the 440 for refinishing and got to looking at the valley pan and thinking how bad it looks. Can you paint it? Is there any difference in pans? Two at summit, one is $25.75 and the other is $31.99 and I couldn't find any difference. Any help? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-1215/applications/year/1968

Thanks.
anyone ever just reuse them and put silicone around the flattened out raised built in "gasket" material? i've always thought about trying this after replacing several of them when pulling intakes for various reasons but never have ... yet.

I have sprayed the copper gasket sealer and reused them with no problems ...the one has heat riser blocked off only difference I know of...

That's right. ^^^^^^ Only two part numbers for both the B and RB engines. One with the heat riser bloocked and one with it open. I prefer the blocked one.

I have reused those up to 7 times and no problems. Just be meticulous and use a decent sealer like Right Stuff or the Permetex "brush in can" stuff.

Yes they looked the same to me.

Is the heat riser hole the hole in the middle? My old one is blocked, both of those look blocked to me, no? Thanks :)

Alternate use if using aftermarket aluminum heads with no crossover. The advantage is isolating the intake runners from any possible oil contamination.

We have always used the one with the blocked off heat riser too. Out here in the middle of the desert you have too.... Darn engine is at running temp before you even start it sometimes. When we have reused them we use the gasket sealer.

And yes, the heat riser hole will be the middle one.

I was going to mention...a couple of the newer engine building books I've seen show a multi-piece setup, and don't even mention anything about the single piece pan/gaskets.

You lost me.... Multi piece set up? For the valley pan?

I think one the o-rings would be for the distributor. One might be for some of the h2o necks????

Thanks for the info, still trying to decide if i'll use it or get a new one. I'm playing around with it right now, painted it green to match the green on my valve covers. Thinking about making a mopar M stencil and putting a black M on it. I'll prolly do that then strip it, paint it black with a green M and see how that looks. Painted the writing on my intake green to match also.View attachment 98762P1191653.jpgP1191655.jpg

Yeah, they're three parts. A seperate pan, and a seperate gasket for each side.

Like the green paint touch-up. Makes it personal and yours.

i just bought this one and it arrived today.

this is the intake gasket. use the provided gasket sealer. they can be painted. i will be leaving mine natural. it looks exactly like my original

$15 seems like a good price, i used to buy two at a time so i always had a new one on the shelf (hate being held up by not having simple gaskets or having to buy them at high prices in a hurry at the parts store) but will try reusing them from now on and see how it works out.
