Hello my name is Dan and I was hoping for a little help with suggestions for a new clutch. This is my first time suscribing to any kind of forum.
My car is a 1968 "Roadrunner" that began as a 318 automatic Satelite saved from the crusher. It now has a 470 stroker, 6-pack, 4-spd pistol grip (many parts, hood, grill, decor panel, dash, etc. came from my first Roadrunner I bought wrecked in 1977 for $270 and drove my senior year in high school).
The car has a centerforce dual friction that I haven't been real happy with. It has enough holding power but seems to take to long to re-engage during faster shifts. After I put Cal-tracs and drag radials on the car it has broken the 8-3/4 twice, the driveshaft once, and twisted the splines on a new set a Moser axles. I currently have a 2.73 open installed so I can at least drive the car while I'm saving for a new Dana 60 (just a few more weeks). Any suggestions on a new clutch for a street car that does get some time at the drags? Thanks for any help!
