I recently bought a 72 satellite and was thinking about turning it into a roadrunner clone.just wandering what all i would have to change thanks

Not too sure, I have a 73. I just look at tons of pics, see what you like and what you dont like and build it how ever you want.

It would need a 340,400.Or a 440 to make it a RR/GTX.Hood,8 3/4,Ralley dash,RR emblems and decals,header panel medallion,grill.

IF any of the things needed makes you a little spooked about it but still want to do it, Focus on gathering parts before you start it. I would buy the hood, any body parts thats needed and then it can be painted, decaled ect and you can gather the remaining things needed as you drive it and have some fun, then finish it off.. just suggesting, It sounds like a good build and you should always do what you want to make your ride the best you envision it. Good luck!

I seen elsewhere you are looking for a RR hood and just emailed a friend of mine who DID have one, If he still does, ill put you in contact with him.

Unless you plan to keep it ( and dont mind the "clone" stigma) dont do it would be my best advice.... From experience :)

Yes i am acually looking for a hood im in ohio im not sure where your buddie lives but yaa ill deff have pics up this weekend for you guys thanks for all the help

Neverhave been a fan of clones, imho it's kind of like riding a kawasaki to sturgis.

dont listen , some act like we are takeing a torino and turning it into a roadrunner .. its pure mopar muscle when we are done .. have fun with it

I just got an email from him and he no longer has one, Im sorry about that but ill ask around and as far as where your at, I hate saying this for fear of the two states ganging up on me for taxes but the actual Ohio Pa line runs right thru my driveway.. I even have one of the cement pillars sitting here with a P on one side and O on the other, the other two sides are the date it was put in (1831 I THINK) and the distance to the next one.. kind of cool! unless tax crap hits us lol.. IF i can locate one, ill be sure to let you know!

BTW, I thought if he did have one he could drop it off hear if you bought it and then you could pick it up, little easier for you is all..

any budy try trimmer to see if he had a hood

You will also need front and rear swaybars, RR emblem for the dash, dual cutout rear valance with machine gun exhaust tips, paint the taillight bezels black. As mentioned the grille which is one rear only and only used on the 72 RR's is very rare and expensive and is also not reproduced.

If you really want your car to look like a real RR and as long as you are NOT trying to pass it off as such then everytime you drive it without it looking the way you want it, You'll take every bit of fun right out of it for yourself. Everyone has an opinion on how to do a car and there's nothing wrong with it but if you don't make it the way you want it, you wont enjoy the car. Now thats my 2 cents with a car, Ive been asked if i had it to do over again, would I? YEP, Im the one driving it, im the one who did the work and spent the time and money and i would do it with any car IF i liked how it looked compared to the "original" look of the car.

I'll say it once again..LOL

IF you dont mind driving the car and being told its just a clone by people then sink the money into it and be happy.
BUT if you dont like people looking down their noses at your car then think about it. Yes it does happen. Its all about you and how you feel because you will never get your money back out of it.. unless you are starting with a gem for an obscene low price.

There is snobbery in the Mopar world. Wont find much if any of it on here as its a really really good bunch of guys in here BUT you will run into it on the streets. Ah its just a clone is the phrase you will hear a lot. Especially if it turns out very nice.
I am not trying to be negative either but I just played this game and couldnt get by the stigma. Just offering my best advice... Look within yourself and ask yourself and be honest are you goig to be happy with a fake Roadrunner. IF yes then go for it we're here to help :)

I just looked again and this thread states how to make a clone ... not what everyone thinks of one ... maybe someone should start a new thread instead of takeing over this one ,,, just sayin

It goes hand in hand... Just people offering advise from all angles. I've said all I will say on it but I do feel it was solid and relevant information
