Dropped the tranny out of my 70RR last week to have it rebuilt and found out it had been replaced with a 69RR A833. I plan on keeping it in the car, but figured I would share the Vin# off of the tranny just in case somebody has this car and may be looking for its original tranny. The Vin on the tranny is RM21H9E121538. If this is someone's original tranny here or someone you know and they want it, all I would be asking for in return is a freshly rebuilt 70RR A833 in return, since I am rebuilding this one right now. Guess you never know, so maybe this can make someone's day. Thank you.

Great offer to someone. If you are going to put an original 70RR A833 4-speed back in your 70 RR you will need to more than likely change the bolt in trans crossmember. 69 4-speed trans takes a different crossmember than a 70 4-speed trans unless the 70 tail housing was used on the 69 trans that was installed previously when it was swapped out. I have a 70 4-speed trans here that was apparently produced at change over and has both mounting provisions for the trans mount on the tail. Also has the correct 3 digit factory paint code still on the case!

Thats a nice offer. I found my original and offered the guy cash and another 18 spline and he wouldn't do the deal.

I guess he's just a bitter old bastard because he used to own the car and sold it. He would not sell it period.

He ain't a mopar guy! Don't care if he owns a hundred of them, and never owned anything else, he ain't a mopar guy. He's a prick!!

It is funny that you say something about the 3 digit factory paint code being on there. After I cleaned mine up it had the numbers "275" on it and it looked like that had been there for quite some time, maybe original, not too sure really. Thanks for the tip with mounting it. That does make sense now why they had some stuff rigged up horribly in there. I was doing a little cursing when I saw what they did. But, that has been the story of this car. I am treating her right though and putting her back together how she deserves.

And yes everyone, I can't stand someone who would deny you your numbers matching engine or tranny or try to charge you an arm and a leg for it. I am a true car guy and the way I was raised, that just isn't right.

agree. to not sell something like a guys numbers matching 4-speed if offered a replacement or better value and a little something extra for the hassle/work or offer of a rebuilt replacement 18 spine that was as good or better and something for the labor ... to refuse that would mean he wasn't a Mopar guy to me too

sounds like it... I'm sure you'll keep tabs in case the car comes up for sale down the road to buy swap the trans and sell again or whatever
