OK so I had my dana at the diff shop and they were having trouble setting it up, apparently at some point it spun the bearings causing some damage to the saddles as well as damage to the side of the case. so at first they said that the 5.38 gear set would not fit the spool, so they sold me a good used set of 4.10's and then they could not get those to set either. I went to mark willams website, ran the numbers I have for the spool and it does NOT give a break on the gear set so the shop said that I have a 4.10 and down spool but mark williams makes no mention as to what gear set this spool will fit.I am confused( not that that is difficult to do) is it that the housing was damaged to a point that the 5.38's required to many shims to set or do I simply have a 3 series spool?? the part number for the spool is 53190. I am fairly certain that I need another housing but a machinist friend wants to look at it first, something about using GM shims and milling that saddle mounts( kinda like a main bore, I think) as always thanks for the input.
