I replaced my turn signal switch about a year ago with a part I bought from Herbs for $75.00,now it seems that when the turn signal cancels it does not go back to a solid center position on a left hand turn and then the brake light does not work unless I move it to center, also if I move it towards left turn or right turn but not all the way it starts to blink, does any body know where to get a better quality turn signal switch or is it another problem.I noticed this when some one following me said I had abrake light out, moved thr turn signal to center and the brake light worked.really hate to replace the switch again,PITA.any ideas? car is a 69 RR

make sure the ends didnt break on the switch.(they do the cancelling)also, check that the pivot point is clean and not over tight.

i had same problem and it turns out i overtightened the mounting screw and it would'nt pop back all the way unless i pulled it to the center

I just loosened the screw and worked the switch back and forth until it sat in the middle on its own.

I had the same thing with my 67 Coronet, almost lost my mind till I finally figured it out.

Just curious as to what your switch looks like? I recently ordered one from Classic. I realized right away that it didn't look like the picture they had posted for it or like others I had boughten in the past. The horn contact on this new one has just a stud with no small wheel on top, and also the wires that terminate at the connector are different lengths by over 3 inches. Oh and it is also stamped 'Made in Argentina' on the package. I called them saying it wasn't what was pictured on their catalog and would require me to cut the wires and put new ends on to make it look decent. After much arguing, they finally agreed to let me return it but I had to pay the shipping. I still don't agree with that and think it is an inferior reproduction. So I am looking for someone who sells the correct style.

No mine looked exactly like the old one, wires were same length,PITA removing wires out of the connector.I guess I have to pull the sterring wheel and adjust the screw tension, easier than messing with the plug connector.thanks for all the input..Mike
