Thanks for producing the Volvo.
I have a 1996 850 GLT that just rolled over 300,000 miles.

Wow, I looked at the Craigslist in Sweden. Looks like most of the ads in the cars and trucks section are for classic American cars!
But then, on closer inspection, most are ads from sellers in the U.S.

To look at Craigslist ads across the U.S. try adhuntr.com to look nationwide in a single search.

i got side tracked on cl Sweden, and went to women seeking men lol! there are some beautiful women there!

Craigslist is a free internet tool to sell stuff and announce community activities..... Lots of people get ripped off on craigslist I would not buy a car without seeing it or having someone you personally know inspect it from there... There is also the craigslist killer over here and lots of people have been robbed from meetings they set up to sell or buy from someone on there. It can be a good tool but can be just as dangerous and the exact opposite.. definitely buyer beware

just like the old want ads in the paper. Buy only locally! many scams

I don't knock CL since I found my one and only Charger on it. Of course it was local to me, so I was able to see it in person, meet the seller. You can find great stuff on there, but you have to be cautious and patient. Have you chatted with the other Swedes who post on this site?

X2 on producing the classic Volvos... where I live there are still plenty of 240's rolling on.

I looked at a 71 Roadrunner on Tuesday. Found it via CL.

383 4 speed car. Solid unibody and cowl. Had 73 400 and headers. one repaint. B7/white buckets and top were only options.

Rust in quarters and tops of windshields from vinyl. asking 5K, offered $3500. Next guy to look, bought it for $4300 after seller...get this...

Called me to say the guy offered him 4K but was an ***, and the buyer wanted me to come back and buy it !!

I should have :(

Found my Satellite on CL...and my 73 Charger, and my $40 Magnum 500s, and my bandsaw, and my Hobart 140 MIG, and my air hose reel, and my trailer...

I am going to look at two 66 Coronets tomorrow...from CL.

I found my Road Runner, 440 engine and tranny, seats, and lots of other parts on CL. I also sold lots of parts I no longer needed on CL. Yeah, there are scammers and crooks on there, but I've bought hundreds of items off CL ads, and I've only encountered one scammer. I've encountered lots of scammers when I've sold items.

I think one of the most important things to keep in mind when buying off CL is that you're usually not dealing with a professional. Most of the ads are posted by people like you find on this forum, and just as lots of folks on this forum are always asking questions about parts and cars because they aren't sure about something, the folks who sell on CL aren't sure of things either and often describe or identify things incorrectly. I've found lots of ads that are pretty bogus, but they tend to be that way more out of ignorance than an effort to defraud.

Perfect example was I bought a 727 transmission for the 440 that was going in my car so I would have a spare if something was wrong with the one that came with the engine. I ended up not needing the spare, so I listed it on CL. A guy bought it for a 383 car and couldn't install it. Turns out the tranny did come out of a 383 Road Runner, but at some point in 10-20 years someone had swapped the bell housing for a small block one. I didn't notice it when I bought it, nor did the previous owner. We just saw the info on the pull tag and since neither of us ever actually tried to install it, we didn't notice the housing was wrong. I gave the buyer his money back and relisted the tranny as a small block unit. This is the kind of stuff that happens when you deal with owners and not professional dealers, but then again you're paying a lot less money. :)
