Hello to all! Obviously I'm new to the forum and look forward to talking with all you seasoned MOPAR guys. My first car was a 1969 dodge polara convertible that was a faded vanilla pudding looking color. I loved it. I sold it years ago and now I'm looking to get back into the MOPAR world with a 1968 Dodge Charger. Which brings to question, It's a junkyard find with most pieces missing. It only cost me $1,200 but, is it really worth restoring? I'd like to think so but, it is full of rust, no engine/trans and is an SE model. I actually haven't even seen it yet. I'm in the Army currently deployed to Afghanistan. When I come home on leave I'll get a better look at it.

68chargerfan, where are you deployed to? Where are you redeploying to when your OCONUS tour is over? What's your budget, and what's your time frame to see it completed? I think these, and questions like do you have the space, tools, skills to see it through, and more importantly do you have 25k right now to do this car -- and this is assuming you do most of the work yourself -- farming out the biggies to sub-contractors; Media Blasting as your first stop. Yes, I think anything is restorable, if the above factors are met.

Donny, I'm currently in Afghanistan and will redeploy back to Ft. Bliss. As far as budget goes, you'll have to ask the wife... I can do it though. I have just about all the tools necessary to complete this project. I restored my first car when I was 18. It was a 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. The Polara I had didn't need a resto. That's where I really cut my teeth on cars. Nothing but old jeep resto's and military trucks since then. Learning about MOPAR's WILL be new to me, but the mechanics will be the same. As far a time frame goes, there is none. I'm not in a race. Most of the work I will do myself (I.E. media blasting, welding etc...) I just bought a new home in Va with a big 2 car garage, so I should be fine on space. I've been studying the other members resto pages to see what I'm up against. So far nothing I can't handle. There is a lot of knowledge within this Forum and I plan to soak it all up!
