Started up my 70 Roadrunner to go to a cruise night yesterday and noticed that the volt meter (I have a 3 gauge aftermarket gauge set under the dash) was showing just under 12 volts. When I applied the brakes the voltage dropped down to 10 volts. The system has always been showing approx 13.5 volts.
Anyway changed the battery (had an extra one) in hopes the battery was going bad (was the battery that was in the car when I bought it last fall...not really sure how old it is) anyway that did not fix the problem. So I need a little guidance on what and how to check next.....
thanks

Since you've eliminated the battery as a fault, next is obviously the charging system. Take a voltage reading with the engine off, when dormant a good battery should read 11.4-12.5. Next check it while running, anything over your dormant is good but generally 14ish volts is good. Let it run, then **** down and watch the multimeter, if it starts falling quickly and below 12 you might have a draw on the system.

I found The Problem.....

Thanks for the reply but I did the classic "pull and tug" check on all wires/connectors and the green wire from the alternator that feeds to the regulator pulled off the connector at the alternator end......had to have been cracked........put a new connector on it and all is well. Thanks again

PS: don't you wish all life's problems could be fixed with a simple "pull & tug"....LOL
