My father bought a 1970 Dodge Charger 500 new off the lot. When I was 12 yrs old he left the car to me before he died, at the time the car had seen its better days but my father had intentions of fully restoring. To make a long story short, due to moving and trying to help my mother pay the bills I had to sell the car. I have tracked it to the second owner since me, but he sold the car before he died and I am running into a dead end. Does anyone have any ideas on how to further track the car down?

Greetings!

What is the last state you are aware it was located?

Give as much information as you can come up with and I'm sure myself and the guys on this site will do their best to help you out. Good luck and welcome

All I can say is "research"
Do your "leg-work", do you have any paperwork from when your Dad owned it?
Specifically, the VIN?

Contact the DMV.

I will have to look and see if I have the VIN anywhere. I sold the car in 1986 in Tennessee, the guy I sold it to had it until about 5 years ago. I have some people trying to locate the wife of the last guy to own the car, he sold it 2 yrs ago. The sad thing about this whole deal is I tried to buy the car back from the gentleman I sold it to about 6 years ago and he priced it to me for 8000.00, and at the time I really could not afford to do that. I then found out that he sold the car for 400 bucks 5 years ago.

You could find out what Insurance Company he had.
They "might" have an old record of that car.
Especially if there was continuity.

davidp welcome to FBBO, I hope you can find your dads ol' 70 Charger 500, like Ski recommended if you have some of the necessary info, like the persons name address you sold it to or who they sold it to, the license plate & especially the vin# or state that it was last in or went to, will help for sure, there's usually a small fee like $10, at-least here in Ca. anyway to do a title search.... Good luck

Welcome, good luck on your hunt.

Dodgecharger.com and Moparts.com may also be good places to look for your past ride.
