I hear you onlyone. I would love to make this car green again, I love high impact colors! I have owned 6 different Competition Yellow Corvettes, when most vette guys think that color is too loud. Im ok with leaving this road runner yellow and we plan to paint the engine compartment yellow to match the body.
Re: $10,000 paint jobs. I know what a $3000 paint job looks like, and Im too picky for that quality. Im sure we would start by taking all the chrome trim off the car, then the doors and trunk, then would find rust in the 1/4's that would need fixed, then we would have the drive train out of the car and have it on a rotisserie to fully paint the body, top - bottom and inside - out. All of a sudden, a $3000 job turns into $10,000. PLUS, then nearly every other part of the car needs to be replated, repainted, replaced, rebuilt and then this car becomes a black hole of cash. Right now, all the parts that are "driver" quality and look ok as is, would look like pure crap with a good paint job, so a line has to be drawn somewhere. I thought that line was going to be with a blackout engine compartment and getting the car running and back on the road for the first time in 10 years. Then the "line" was going to be just a restored engine compartment, but dang, since the engine is out, its sure a good time to do all the suspension and steering components since we are right here!
A line has to be drawn somewhere, and for today, that line is going to be not doing a full paint job!
