My son purchased a 1974 Satellite I would like to know how to tell if it is a plain sebring (high end, factory air and factory manual sun roof) or a plus. The car has the plus hood (roadrunner style). The interior is not complete but it does have the shift level on the floor. Any help would be great. thank you.

If it still has the Tag on the inner fender you can decode it on certain web sites and there are members here that will decode it for you. I think the ser. # can be decoded as well to a very basic description of the car such as low or high end model.

Vin number on dash tag and title. First two numbers.
RL Satellite
RM Road Runner
RH Sebring
RP Sebring Plus

Post the first 7 numbers of the vin. here and I'll tell you what motor and plant too.

Agree with everything posted so far.

Some of us REALLY like 73-74 Satellites and want to see pics.

We can help decode options as well if you post a pic of the fender tag.

The first thing I look at is does it have buckets seats and a console? All Plus cars had that. If it has a bench seat, it isn't a plus.

I'd be careful saying "never"...

Just because it was standard, doesn't mean it couldn't be optioned away.

Coronet 500 came standard with buckets and console, but I've seen several with buddy seat and even bench seat and column shift. Seen many a GTX and R/T with column shift too.

C/V bench was optional on SSP....

That exact bench in that exact color was in my 74 SE parts car.

...was REALLY comfy.

Yes the first two are RP, but I read some where that the plus came with a 360 not a 318. Thank You for the info.

The bucket seat that where thrown in are not the 73-74 style. I thing there the 71-72 style. Does have a console.

those are not the seat that came with the car.

Thank you everyone for the great info. When I get a chance to get back out to the garage I will look for the fender tag.

SSP is a trim not motor it is the higher scale model with rally dash and extra trim
