Original Dash Pad Preservation...

The car I recently purchased, which has been in storage for many years, has an uncracked original black dash pad...

What is the best product to use on it to preserve it's condition and bring it back to life?

It's a 72 year model if that makes a difference as far as the material

I think the Vaseline treatment was used by many people. It would keep the vinyl soft, but you can forget about ever repainting the part if needed. It soaks into the vinyl and is impossible to get it out for paint adhesion.
Yeah - I'm sure RC will be chiming in with his thoughts on the subject LOL.

An old timer told me about this a number of years ago and I have used it with success. Find some hand cleaner(without grit in it)with lanolin in it. rub it in and it will clean out all the old dirt. After wiping off repeat and let it sit a few hours before wiping. The lanolin helps to renew the old vinyl. If you do use a interior protectant make sure to stay away from the silicone based stuff. I think most of the Meguiars stuff is without silicone.

Go to lowes and get some clear uv waterproof silicone caulk rub it in and wipe it off don't let it dry, you'll be amazed.

Second on the Meguiars! Use the M39 to clean it then M40 to preserve and shine. I used them on my dash, sun visors, and door pads they look band new!
