ah, we are just one big happy family! I worked with the Canadian AF, and had a great experience. and one thing I liked was all RCAF helicopter Pilots had to spend three years as mechanics first.(circa 1971) American pilots are well trained, but they don't think much about how something works, in my experience.(Biased former USAF helicopter mechanic)

That was somewhat true in the Army unit I was in, our commissioned officer pilots didn't really have a clue, but our Warrant Officers, now those old timers knew those birds inside and out, and did all our inspections after any maintenance and were as sharp as I ever seen, and I was a phase maintenance leader and crew chief for Chinooks.
I never seen a better bunch of pilots than the Warrants either, could make those birds do things you never thought any helicopter could, and if you're not familiar with Chinooks, imagine a Greyhound bus with rotor blades...lol
