Hey guys, I'm sort of new here do a lot of reading from people on here that know there stuff. I got a question about a 4 speed conversion I just did on my coronet. I got the trans from a kid that said it came out of a 73 rr. It seemed fine out of the car. He said it was a low mile 35xxx. Soooo I convert to a 4 speed from a auto. I did my first conversion this past winter on my 68 dart and was so happy that I did!!! Anyway when I did a test run for the first time It was nothing like what my dart was. The gearing is very high. I could drive it in 3rd and not need 4th. I guessed it was a truck 3 speed with overdrive. I checked the date stamp and it said 5 06 82.

Question: can I go lower in rear gear to offset? I'm running a 3.55 now. or can I have the gears replaced in trans to make it more fun and leave the overdrive?
Or do I just replace the tranny?

I really have no ideal what I need here so your input is needed.

Thanks,

Well you could put a 4:11 or 4:56 in the car and use the over drive OR just change out the tranny. If you was to replace the tranny gears you could just get an 833 for the same money. I am not even sure if you can as you would need every gear in a 833 to do it.
Sorry but no easy answer on this one ?
