I would like to install the turn signals that go on top of the fenders on my 74 roadrunner. but need to know where to put the hole in the right spot. anybody out there with any ideas, thanks.

I personally do not have them, but here is a picture that might give you an idea of where they go.

When I restored my 73 Roadrunner back in 90-92, I bought a 74 Satellite as a parts car. I think one of the fenders was used from that car. My hood mounted turn signals are not in the exact same spot. So the bottom line is they might be different from one year to another, but I am not sure.

If you need it, I can measure from my car - it had them since new but now is a bit of a hybrid...

They were an option on Roadrunners so not all had them.
Try searching Satellite Sebring Plus, they were standard on that. You'll find more pics.

some kind of measurement to locate from wood be great.

On Chargers, big hole for turn signal socket aligns with center of sidemarker

Sorry, I missed your post and then had to take some pictures. I suggest you use the driver side measurements from my car and not the passenger side. The passenger side light is too far forward to see it well over the bulge (and I am 6'0" tall too). Why they are different I cannot tell. I believe the driver side is the original measurement for my 73 Road Runner. The passenger side changed after my restoration (back in 1992), because I remember being annoyed that it was now not as visible. So the passenger fender may be from a 74, or who knows, maybe it is just different...

Hope this helps...

It looks like your passenger side is about 3/4" in too close, or the driver's side is 3/4" too far out.

Yup. As I said in my post, I think the passenger side is the one that is off...

In one picture he is measuring from the fender to the lamp, the other is the hood to the lamp. Apples and oranges.

The measurements are from the same places. What A dilemma, now you have to wait for someone else or choose which one you think is correct.
I think the drivers side ( first two pics) is what I would use seeing some this weekend. Looks more correct that the last two. IMHO

Measure from wherever you like, that one light is much closer than the other.

I agree with B-Body_Hopeful. Looking at that pic of the red car, the driver's side measurement looks to be correct.

I'm guessing though that since there's no indent for these that I know of, workers made a quick measurement and started drilling, and as we've seen time and time again with stripe locations, anything that workers had to do on their own tend to be off, a little or a lot, from car to car and even from the left to the right side of the same car. :)

Once again, I say align turn signals bulbs with sidemarkers bulbs and done!... then will need just to get worried about transversal measurement ( side to side )

On a 73/74, the marker lights would be way too far forward if you did that...

not just 73/74... on any 3rd gen. Sidemarkers are on same location on everyone, but is the way it is

some hundres more, some hundres less. Just take your own conclusion... the easier is... align them with sidemarker sockets... socket with socket

Nacho - you have to look at your last picture. If you aligned the turn signal with the marker light bulb, it would be 2 inches forward of where it is supposed to be!

You rule of thumb seems to work OK with Chargers, but is does not work with 73-74 Road Runners!

yes I got doubts with the last pic, but we don't know if that car is orinally equipped or was added... or is the pic angle... the rest of pics I posted seems to be originally equipped since it matchs.

You can align the turn signal screw with sidemarker socket too. I don't think a perfect location for them was used on factory anyway.

Don't worry, I mounted mines wrong anyway on my Charger, maybe half an inch forward than the sidemarker socket LOL... it was way long time ago before being member of Mopar boards and become on a websurfer. But I won't open a new hole on my Car to correct that :p
