Hey All, just thought I'd catch some of you up to date on what has been going on with my flr board patch.

So far...doing good. Got the panel in and welded up. Found some more rot in the rear corners of the passenger foot well where the rear and front floor pan meet so I had to spend some time fixing that. Nothing too major but still put my project even farther behind *sigh*.

Anyway, I got the patches in, prepped the floor pan and laid down a good layer of Rust Bullet. Then some Eastwood Seam sealer over the patches and where the old seam sealer came up or just wasn't there (thank you Mr. Previous Owner), and what you see here is what I ended up with.

I didn't hit 100% of the floor pan. I got the main pan up to the fireboard seam but beyond that it was rather filthy even after my attempted cleaning so I elected to not hit that or the top of the trans tunnel, not that I'm too worried about that section as the paint and seam sealer was still solid there.

So I went from this:

The Rust Bullet did a fine job sealing up any pinholes but I hit it with the seam sealer just in case.

Next I've got some Tru-Max Super Insulator mat to lay down so as to at least try to quiet the car down a little bit. Hopefully I'll be able to get the new rugs back in here in the next week or so.

Then onto dropping the tranny to replace the clutch.....

That's all for now!

Great job funship. What manufacturers floor pan did you use? I need a decent one with proper thickness for my 73 Charger.

Hey funship, you were not a kiddin. You did a great job on your floor pans! I am started to get excited about fixing my firewall now. I have to weld in a whole new front floor pan in my bird because it's so bad.

Charger Jase, I'm sure there may be better places to get floor pans but year one has patches at a reasonable price. I wish I would have known I would have sent you mine instead of returning to them (I ended up needing the whole front section). Not to be a year one pusher but you can get each side for around 90 without drain hole and they have a sale today for 25% off if you use WED528. If you need both sides, you can call and have them shipped together to save on shipping costs. It's what I did.

@ ChargerJase- I picked up a front section pan on E-bay from Columbia Parts. It was decently priced and included free shipping. Thickness seemed to be pretty close if not spot on to the OEM pan. Was a toss up between AMD, Columbia on ebay and Classic-2-Current all of whom seem to sell parts. So I punted as I was only doing section and not a complete pan. If doing an entire pan, I'd probably go with AMD if for no other reason than the writeups I've seen in the usual mope magazines. However for my '68 Fury which has a section of trunk rot in the trunk pan extensions, I figured I'd give C-2-C a try. Hope that helps.

@ Propwash- Thanks for ALL your help with this project. You input was fantastic and you helped immensely!!

I was looking at AMD but they only do a whole floor pan including under seat. Mine only needs a similar repair to yours. I looked at the Columbia parts on ebay and they look good. Unfortunately when I contacted him to ask about thickness etc, he was such an arrogant w%$@#*&r about the whole thing that I thought "screw you buddy". I was looking at Sherman from a place like Rockauto. I really appreciate your feed back and its an excellent repair you have done. Many thanks.

I Definitely would not recommend Sherman from rock auto. I originally bough those and was disappointed with the level of detail they had and overall quality. I love rock auto and i can honestly say this is the first thing I have bought from them I didn't like. They didnt even look like they were the right ones for my car but the product numbers were right. I had to send those back and that's when I got my first set from year one. I ended up getting the amd full front floor pan because I had so much rust and my brother cut many holes to put a custom floor shifter and duster seats in it. It seemed easier to just replace the whole thing. I have never bought amd before now but if it is as good as everyone says, I am super excited.
