For you Harley guys

To each his own. I ride and have for over 30 years. I also race Dirt cars and it take more than stab and go so I Don't judge !
But we all have our own kind of fun! I have had Alot of fun and take great Pride in the charity runs we do for Kids and others in need. Yes there are good and bad in all forms of things and the Stupid seams to run the cambit ? But if you was to Meet these people and get to know who thay are maybe you would think diferent ?
Everytime my Wife drives my Lifted Dodge some young guy hits on her at the Sheetz ! LOL!!!
Don't know what thay want to ride more ? My truck or Her !! LMAO !!!!

I've done some charity rides myself and everyone I talk with, are the most warm hearted people you want to meet.
Now back in the day if you ran into a group of riders wearing "colors" you better have your guard up. They are still around but mostly keep to themselves. Used to run into them at the hill climbs or a swap meet or a couple of bars we would come across. The "weekend warriors" I like to call them will be like the aboved mentioned, good people!

Thats fine, I just dont agree with the noise level.

I felt I could never afford a Harley - never wanted one anyway - didn't want to stick Harley stickers on everything I owned and then buy a complete closet full of Harley themed and logo'd clothing, boots, shoes, wallet, belt, etc, etc, etc ad nauseum.... then have to feel like I had to grunge out to ride the thing and act and look like a dirtbag, just wasn't my style.

I've ridden bikes and owned a few - none of them rattled anyone's windows or left a puddle of oil where it parked - and I had fun. They were 'rice-burners' but they were all dependable and easy on the pocketbook. The one odd thing that the Kawasaki would do - is run fine until you turn it off - then it wouldn't fire back up unless you replaced the spark plug - plug looked fine - wasn't flooded - it didn't do it often, but it'd always pick the best of times to pull that sh*t.... LOL

I've never understood the appeal of Harleys. They're slow, don't get good gas mileage, expensive, and unreliable. They really don't do anything well.

The appeal is a classic looking bike. Speed is not really a factor. There behind the 8 ball since there only a two cylinder. But they can be built to go fast.
My 2003-1200 Custom Sportster got 50MPG's stock and with the basic outside bolt on's. My buddy has a (IIRC) a 2007 Street Gluide that out mileaged me. Factory F.I. stroker with a 6 speed trans.

They are more expensive since there not made in slave land with or without child labor. Your paying American workers to put these together. & years of ownership @ 8,000 miles a year, no failures except the "Chinese" oil pressure switch.

Everything I asked the bike to do it did well.

Beyond that, I can't identify w/ a group of guys that on the weekends like to dress up like pirates.
You call it "Pirate" wear, I call it tradional and proper wear should something happen. Black leather is pirate wear? It is a lot tuffer than your spandex. Black hides road dirt and grime.

Like super-lifted trucks that are never used offroad...maybe it's a penis thing?
If you think someone has not made that joke about you and your muscle car, your really narrow and daft.

If it won't go fast, make it loud.

Not a fan of loud either.

What I don't understand is some of these tough-guy bikers drive around glaring at people with a scowl...or maybe they're constipated. But they don't look happy riding, so why do it?

Some of these ******** that ride are weekend dick heads.Wanna play the part of tuff guy and then go home to Mommy.

Sounds to me there are a lot that's judging, who don't even own. Maybe too scared to ride?

Ya! No doubt. I ride more than I drive. (Or until recently, did ride more than drive)
My fav thing to do is to wave to the kids and smile. They love it! A "Motorcycle Man" just waved to me!

To the rest of you clown displaying so much negative comments about an American made bike, stop it! Really! At least there is an American bike! And do take notice how the Jap's are trying very hard to copy it!

(GOD! What a bunch of winners, haters and crybaby fagots there are hear to complain about there so called "Country they Love!" and show SO MUCH "PRIDE" in an a American product! )

You could own one and not stick a single sticker on anything. If you didn't want to. Why wold you feel the need? As well as purchase "Harley" cloths?

The "Grunge" or "Dirtbag" look need not be applied. But you seem to think it is a must along with the above. I do advise proper cloths in case you fall off the dang thing. So if it should not be demin or leather in the blue or black but the brightly colored suites that many Jap bike owners like to wear, well then go for it.

As mentioned earlier, about the Chinese part failing on my sporty, it never gave me an issue. At 50 mpg's, it was easy on the wallet to ride. I sold it after 8 years of ownership and at over 40K in mileage for more than half of the purchase price.

Can you say that about your Jap bike.

The worst bike I ever owned was a Shadow. I had to keep replacing parts. And there rep is a good one. From my point of view, I say, "How can that be?" Fuel pump goes bad, sprocket goes, etc... OMG! the list is long! No lie. But I do know that Honda's are a good bike. I guess the Japs finally caught up to Americans with a Monday morning bike or a Friday bike.

wow. back with a flurry, huh Rob?

I have been a Harley rider since 1962. I built and painted several choppers. I am even a rebel to the required "Harley Look" I never got more tatto's than the original one I had in 1965. I wore a brown leather bombers jacket, light colored leather gloves instead of the required black, finger cut-offs. A plain black or white T shirt with no printing, and the H.O.G. patch I got with my new 2002 Harley, I sewed on upside down on my "rag" I liked it better when " you meet the nastiest bastards on a Harley".........................................MO

LOL! Kind off. I'm working a lot so post time is down.
What erk's me is people bitch about not having an American product but when they do they tear it apart and then wave the Nippon flag and brag on how much they saved!

HIPPO CRITTERS (purposely spelled that way)

You all have some nerve.

Harleys and Mopars, It's the only way to go. Proud owner of 2 Harleys and 10 Mopars.

My car is not loud and I don't feel the need to goose the throttle every 3 seconds like my 400lb Harley trike riding neighbor!

I have owned 3 goldwings, 3 valkyries, 1 harley, and this bike. This bike has 160 ft lbs of torque on the rear wheel. No motorcyle tire will take past 4000 miles so I run a car tire on it now.

It is an 08 Triumph Rocket 3 Touring with 30k miles.

I like that Triumph, Rocketman. I remember reading a review on it back in 2005 and thought it was remarkable back then, and still is now.

Yea even after riding for 30 years I still don't get that ????

I love my 2 harleys (even though they are not true harleys) but I still want an ebr 1190 but I can't afford it so I went with harley

I think the debate here has nothing to do with the brand. It has everything to do with a certain group of guys who feel the need to dress like pirates (say what you will about protective clothing but a leather jacket, fingerless gloves and no helmet is not protection), rev their engines at stop lights or randomly, and remove all silencers/mufflers.

I have nothing against motorcyclists, hell I have owned 4 and will buy another one when the kids stop eating my cash. But mine always keep mufflers on them, and yes my Jap bikes have gotten 45-50 mpg and I only ever had to change a battery...that's it. They were phenomenally reliable. When us Americans can build a bike as good as the Japs then I might buy one....I've yet to see an American bike that can do what my Honda and Yamaha could do for 10k showroom sticker price....when we can keep up to them I might buy American. And no the made in America part isn't worth an extra 10k. (and when you buy used like me it doesn't matter who made it, the money goes to a local dealer not the manufacturer anyway)

So I guess my point of view is a particular type of individual..not the brand. I have known many harley riders and most of them are nice people...not all of them, some of them I can do with out.

Again to each their own but think about others when you deal with your exhaust system...all of your vehicles.

My truck and Coronet both are not loud and will always be that way.
