so would it be possible to install a 3rd seat in a wagon that was originally a 6 pass. ?

My wagon is a 68 coronet WP45F8 which is a 6 pass. but I always wondered if I found the seat from another car, can I make it work.

and how many years did they use the same setup? I found a 71 coronet parts car that is a 9 pass. so I am wondering if I can take the 3rd seat apparatus from there and install it in the 68.

I have not been able to get out there to measure, just seeing if someone might know right off and save me a bunch of time.

Can you access what would be the spare tire well if it were a sedan or hardtop?

That's where the 3rd seat passenger's feet go!

Pic would help.

I just snapped a couple of my 3rd seat, but haven't copied them over yet.

My 66 Belvedere is a 6 pass. and my 68 Coronet is supposed to be a 9 pass.(but missing the third seat section) and both have the same floor pan in rear section. The difference I see is the way the floor folds up and down. My belvedere has a one piece rear floor that lifts up to access spare tire area whereas the coronet has a bi-folding rear floor that lifts to access spare tire area. Both have an additional spare tire compartment in passenger rear quarter compartment. So I believe if you can find the piece for the floor section and the seat section you could convert the 6 passenger to a 9 passenger just by swapping out parts.

YY1 I would like to see some pics of your third seat. My wife wants to use my 66 Belvedere wagon for her daily driver but would need the third seat set up. I would like to see what parts I am looking for. Thanks

I can take closer pics of what you might need.

'71 is a little bit different animal than 66-70.

Even though the rear frame and gas tanks changed in 68, the wagons kept the 66/67 style, for the 3rd seat foot well.

71 was a total restyle.

I'd like to see how that 2 way hinge works with the roof that carried over from 66/67 as well.

I showed you mine. Only fair to show me yours (blushes).

when you left up the floor section the "spare tire well" where the feet of rear most passengers go .....it looks the same as your wagon under the hinged floor section
