I never like to post much personal stuff but this is getting to me. My 77 year-old dad was recently diagnosed with cancer in his kidney and had his kidney removed just after the first of the year. Now they've found a growth of some kind in his bladder and he's getting that taken out Monday. I'm driving to my parents' place in southern Arizona tomorrow to help out in any way I can. I will mostly be taking my dad's place in taking care of my mom (who had a variety of pretty serious health problems herself) while he recovers.

My dad has always been one of those guys who is never sick and never had any health problems so this is hitting everyone pretty hard, we just weren't ready for this I guess. I'm worried about him but I'm also worried about my mom being taken care of. If he makes it through everything, they are planning on moving closer to me which will make sense if they need more help in the future. I guess I need to just take things one day at a time and hope for the best. Thanks for letting me vent.

vent away all you want we are here to listen and see what we may do in your times ,sorry to hear of your family issues ,our hopes and prayers are with you and your family if there is anything that we can do please feel free to send me a pm

Hey Satty,

I wish you the best with your situation. My mother-in-law recently passed away from renal cancer, she was just 69. However she fought it for over 20 years. Some forms of renal cancer mover really slowly, so let's hope that is what your dad has.

Also, there is a new set of cancer drugs coming out. Check out clinicaltrials.gov and look up MK-3475. They are starting trials against renal cancer.

Wishing your Dad a full recovery...

Hawk

I also have aging parents and it is very tough to recognize the inevitable. My father has survived colon cancer and a kidney removed due to cancer. He has slowed tremendously over the last two years. I have learned also that he has asbestos lying in wait to do its develish deed after 40 years of service to the rail road industry they have decided to make him suffer even more by continually delaying his settlement that is little to nothing. So please vent and have a safe and swift journey we will pray for you

Nobody likes to post a lot of personal stuff, but sometimes you just gotta get it off your chest. There are plenty of people here that know what you are going thru and know how you feel. When somebody here is not 100%, it's up to the rest of us to help bring you back up. Hoping your Dad comes thru this and him and your Mom can move a little closer to you.

He will be in my prayers tonight. Ron

'67 SATTY,
I am brand new to this website, and have never posted anything. However, I could not stand by, and absolutely say/do nothing after reading about your dad. I can surely relate to the situation your family is facing. I am sure many others out there can, as well. As long as your dad is drawing a breath, there is hope. Positive hope, in that Prayers are answered. We sometimes forget that we are limited creatures. We do need help sometimes, in fact a lot of times from above. Anyways, there are good people still out there, who do care, even though they have never met you. You were right, take it one day at a time, and do your best for your parents. You will have no regrets. I am glad you posted. You have more friends than you think you do. I for one will purposely Pray for your dad, and your family. Hang in there.
