screwed that up .

I have some 331's and 354's. A good thing to keep in mind is that the words ..CHEAP and HEMI ..are not allowed in the same sentence. I can build a couple of kick a$$ 440's for what I can sink into 1 Hemi. Just be sure of what you ask for. That said, I believe there is nothing as good looking as an early Hemi.

I pulled a 392 out of an old wrecker in a salvage yard in 1998 for 500 bucks. Sold it to my buddy for 800.00. I was a Chebby freak then and he was a Mopar guy.

We have always heard stories about what a brute the 354-392 Hemis were. I think that engine has to some extent been romanticized. Sure, they were awesome in their day( mid 50's) Heavy Chryslers that would smoke those non posi- small bias ply tires. I have a slightly warmed up 354 in my 56 Chry. all chromed out, and it definetly gets the WOW factor. Don Garlits did more to make that engine famous than any thing else. But I do not think my engine in a lighter car would perform any better than a B body 383..................MO

I have nearly enough parts to build a 354 Hemi, with a lot of parts to spare. Valve covers are in excellent condition. I would take $1200 for the entire lot- picked up at my place.........................MO

Never pass on an opportunity to buy a hemi no matter what size or age take it from me or my dad you'll kick your self everyday if you pass on a hemi!!:headbang:

Well, there is one for sale in the post just previous to yours. And I live just 70 miles East of Nebraska on hwy #2................................MO

I don't know, man, by time you have that 392 installed and fired up you could have built 2 nice 440's that would each destroy that 392. I love the early hemi's too, but for all that cool, you are actually giving away HP.

Everybody has a 440. The 392 is what makes you stand out, and in a good way.

In my opinion you really need to want the early Hemi and should understand they are very cool but if its not just what you want and you are not devoted to making it work as it will be tuffer to get parts and cost more money as was said then a 440. So you gotta really like and want the 392 Hemi in my opinion to get and build it. If not its so much easier and cheaper to build a 383 to 440 wedge and have a strong running car. Dont get me wrong as I love the early (50's) Hemi's and actually had one years ago but I dropped the idea to put it in a 68 Cuda as it was even easier to just do the 426 Hemi and of course the 440 is even cheaper. If you are truly devoted to do it then go for it but if you have any second thoughts of........awe I should have just done a 440 then just do the 440. Good luck which ever you decide. Ron
