RE: low profile oil pan

Anyone know of a low profile other than the Milodon one for $500.00? 440 b body.
 
milodon calls their 7" deep pan "low profile", a little deep for low profile in my opinion. the road race pan is 5 1/2", which is livable but the vertical baffling and trap doors seem a little bit busy to be practical. i came across a road race a few months ago and not sure there isn't a simplier more cost effective way. if you have a 66 or later chassis i'd look at the street hemi pan and maybe add a 1/2"-3/4" to the sump. i've ran fairly deep pans on the street before and knocking the heads off worms or worse engaging manhole lids ain't fun.
 
500 dollars for the Milodon oil pan is just too much. I called them and they assured me the 7 in. was ok to use. The pan now has some serious road rash on it. The bottom is dented up . I try to be careful driving but I am concerned that I will end up dumping my oil.
 
I had a 7qt drag pan and dropped all my oil over a speed bump, went to a milodon road race pan also 7qt i believe, it sits higher then my k member, so all good there
 
i made this one. low profile "track" type pan. complicated to make but there aren't many affordable alternatives.

I run the 30930 Milodon 7 qt pan. Summit has it for about $250. plus the pick-up. My car is lowered in the front and I haven't had any problems hitting anything. Of course I don't try to emulate the Dukes Of Hazard either...
They also have a stock replacement by Milodon for about $150.00.

I use the reproduction '71 street hemi 6-quart pan on a few cars. Usually sits at the same level as the bottom of the K-member
 
I run the Milodon 30930 7" pan on my 66 Satellite. It sits about 2" below the K member. No dents or dings for me or the previous owner so far. I try to avoid the big bumps. Like Colorado Dave said it's about $300 with the pickup. Maybe a skid plate like Hemi K members only a little lower.. The Road race pan is shallow & 7 qts but does cost $500 + the pickup. The custom made one looks cool, wish I had one of those with an external oil supply.
 
I decided to cut it down one inch and mig weld it. Should have it all down today. Going to tighten up the torsion bars too.
 
Don't forget to keep your pickup clearance rite so you don't suck it to the pan !

As long as you cut down the oil pickup tube as well that should work. If it's too long, it will bottom out and starve the motor for oil (or not bolt up) and if it's too short you waste a quart or two of capacity.

I ran 3 Milidon 7qts. ....crunch 1, crunch 2, crunch 3 you're out! I switched to a stock Hemi/Six Pack pan, appropriate pickup (not all "stock Hemi" pans/pickups are the same - found out the hard way - buy them from the same manufacturer) and now my pan is protected by the Hemi/Six-Pack skid plate. If you drive the car, you WILL hit something
 
when modifying a stock pan it will take between 3/4"-1" additional sump depth per quart of oil. the pans with a 10" long sump will use 3/4" and the 9" sumps 1". do some math. there are 57.75 cubic inches in a quart.
 
I am using the milodon external single line pickup. It has little feet that keep it off the bottom of the pan.

I cut the oil pan down 3/4 of an inch. Mig welded it. Leak tested using gasoline. Gasoline will show a weld leak in a matter of a couple of seconds. FYI.
