1972 Dodge Charger repaint

Starting to think about repainting my 72 Charger. It is currently FJ5 green and I'm probably going to keep it that color unless the original color is plum crazy or banana boat yellow.

Could you guys give me an estimate on how much repainting my car would be?

The car is rust free except for the front quarter panels and I'll be getting fiberglass replacements for that anyways. All it needs is sanding and painting.

I don't think it would cost that much. Hope not at least...

Just paint and sand, can probably get it done anywhere between 1k and 15k.. just depend if you want a professional show quality or Tommy's back yard HVLP rattle can. Around my area, you probably can't get a paint job you'd be satisfied with under 5 - 6.5k. The best jobs around here are closer to 9 or 10ish. This is without a bunch of body work obviously.

I`d fix the front fenders if they can be fixed instead of replacing them. Really like those cars in yellow!

Yes, the variables are great. Are you planning on painting the engine compartment? Always remember, you get what you pay for (or at least most of the time).

That's why i'm kind of thinking $5-10k. Maybe I can find someone who can do a good job for that.

It would cost more to fix the old ones, then to get new ones.

The engine compartment is almost flawless! I don't think it would really need to be repainted.

Paint material costs have gone through the roof in the last 5 years. Most body shops would probably charge 7-10K for an all-over job like that.

You could save money by stripping the exterior (glass, bumpers, chrome, handles, etc) and bringing it to them.
