Howdee: I'm hoping the "552 Thermal Flasher" I bought will cure my problem, but I'm having one devil of a time finding the old one. The Service Manual states "...on the lower edge of the instrument panel just below the left side of the glove box...". Don't want to remove the glove box if possible. Your thoughts are welcome!

the emergency flasher should be around the steering column....the turn signal flasher is under the glove box.....

at least this is true on a 67 Charger....might take a look under the drivers side first....you should never have to remove the glove box to replace a flasher

It's just the opposite on a Belvedere II. I replaced the thermal fuse today (new one being cylindrical). My turn signals are back to normal, but still no flasher. Is it necessary to ground the new flasher?

no, it can hang in mid air and still work

probably time for a new 4-way flasher switch...or a used one that works...I can rebuild them if needed

if your turn signals are working fine, that means your turn signal switch inside the column is good

do you have 12v power to the 4way flasher terminal?

Removed the flasher switch and applied ignition cleaner. Plugged it back in and it works. I'm still have questions -

1. Do the flashers cycle quicker than the turn signals? Mine do.

2. My switch is in the down position when off and intermediate position (90 degree) when on. Standard ops or something amiss? Car only has 17K miles.

3. Operation seemed the same in either plug position selection.

Maybe I worry too much. Not easy being of Norwegian descent!

As always, feedback welcome. Thanx!

Hee haw!

I meant to say "Electronic Cleaner".

If the 4 ways are real fast, the flasher is probably weak or there is more load on the system somewhere. I'm betting the flasher is weak. A heavy duty flasher like what you get if you're pulling a trailer will flash slower and stay the same or very close with more load or not.....and it's been way too long since I had a Belvedere with a 4 way on it and can't remember which way is off. It was an option on a 66 and my first car had one but that was in the late 60's. I do remember being able to turn on everything and then turn on the 4 ways and everything would move in unison with the flasher so long as the turn signal was also turned on....left or right didn't matter. Crazy stuff lol

Brand new Wagner bulbs in all four corners and they're all flashing together. The flash frequency seems a wee bit faster than the turns. Could it just be the new 552 flasher input?

Many Thanks!

Trail's End - New thermal flasher, switch cleaned and all is well. I'm content and God willing, I'll never have to use it.
