Hello Guys,

my Name is Bernd i am 34 years old and from Germany.
A few weeks ago i bought a 1970 Charger-Project-Car to restore it during the next 10 years.
Before i start buying parts for the restoration i have to check some facts.
I am sorry to bother you with that boring facts, but i need your help, to go on with that project.
In Germany there are 2 varieties of license Plates.
1.The regular one (tax for cui [440=2000$ a year] + nearly the same for insurance)
Precondition: Car has to pass Security-checkup
2.The cheap one (about 400$ tax a year + 400$ insurance) oldtimer only
Precondition: Car has to pass Security-checkup + Car has to be genuine
Exceptions: Modifications that had been made in the first 10 years after Date of Manufacture to any car of this type - So if s.o. installed a ford (dont ask me why) engine into a 1968-70 Charger and got old pictures,documents.. of that modification (e.g. Pictures in a Magazine from 1973) i would be allowed to put that engine into mine (no panic! mopar or no car).
Muscle Car Magazines from the 70ies never reached Germany and google didn´t really help me out, so here i am. I need names and edition-no. of magazines with modified second generation charger. Just simple modifications like other rims, carburetors, exhaustpipes, steering wheels, bucket-seats... would give me more room to move. It´s not my intention to put a plastic wing on the back, install neon lights or subwoofers or put 20"Wheels on that part of classic-car-history. I hope its not too much effort for you. I promise that i will upload pictures of my Charger and the modifications i will make during the restoration-process.
I apologize for the bad grammar and spelling.
Kindest regards and greetings from Germany
Bernd

I wish I could help you - but I don't have any older magazines while plenty of other members on the site I'm sure collect them. In any event welcome to FBBO.

Welcome to the site! I`ll dig though some of my old magazine collection and see what I can find!

Welcome to FBBO from NorCal

good luck on the 70 Charger project
Happy Moparing

Thank you, especially for diggin´in old magazines.
Next week i will sell my CBR and MR2 so i will have some money and some space in my garage for starting the project.
The first things i have to buy are the wheels cause i got 2 flat tires on old rims.
So i hope s.o. will find a magazine from 1979 with nice custom wheels on a 1968-70 Charger.

Welcome to FBBO Bernd, you are on the right website. A lot of very good information as well as very well studied membership here. good luck and everybody loves Chargers!

Welcome Bernd!

Yes, try ebay for older magazines. I've found many on there.

Good luck!
I also found many on ebay. The problem is, you dont see the content on the cover. And i dont need simpe charger articles, i need customized chargers. And if i finally get 1 magazine with the right content, it has to cross the atlantic ocean before i could hold it in my hands. You see my dilemma ? But thx anyway

So you need a magazine from 1970 to 1980 that would show a 1970 charger, like yours, with some kind of modification. Wheels, carburetors, engine mods, body mods?

Would a DVD of the TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard" help at all?

Season one was made in 1979

BTW....welcome to FBBO

Sure it would, but i dont need numbers on doors and flags on the roof :)
Or did they modify the car in season 1 ?

The car was modified before filming commenced in 1979
