Laid off for downturn, now they want my help on the phone!

I was laid off feb of 2010 after 3 yrs with the Dealership. They asked if I would come back in 2 days and train the people still there.. I was re-hired when I came back cause they figured out I was the only one working..

The printing industry is small

.....and getting smaller.

I went to vocational school for printing and worked for three local companies when I got out of high school. All three are long gone and I only know of one small print shop in the area now.

In the first print shop I worked for, we used to print up a lot of resumes and when they got in a "state of the art" Xerox color printer, the thing was so huge that it took up 1/4 of the shop. Today, anyone can type up their own resume which simply gets emailed and your basic home computer will do a better job printing color pictures than that huge Xerox machine would. How times have changed.

It's funny, when my great grandma passed (nearly 100) I was amazed at how much history she had witnessed now look at us. She seen indoor plumbing, first cars, flight, etc and now we're witnessing 3D printing, internet and phones that can do unimaginable things. Crazy

I agree. All 4 of my grandparents were born 1899-1901 and died between 1972 & 1993. My parents were born in 1928 & 1930 and died in 2008 & 2013. Those two generations, especially my grandparents, have seen more progress in their lifetimes than has ever been seen by any previous generations.

In our lifetimes, the advances are more technological than going from horse & buggy to airplanes and men on the moon.

It's nuts just what cars are nowadays. My dad used to like Model A's and I thought how ugly they were back in the mid 60's and how old they were....around 35 at the time. Now I own a car that's 50! And we never thought someone would be walking or driving down the street talking on a cell phone but I'm disappointed that we're not able to go up in space on a regular flight by now.
