Non-gummy black tape for underhood wiring harnesses

Electrical tape is just awful for the job.

Friction tape is most definitely not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for black plastic tape that IS adhesive, but a little stiffer than electrical tape, and the adhesive does not turn gummy after a few months like electrical tape.
The adhesive stays hard and becomes more or less permanent. I am looking for what the harnesses were originally dressed with.

Just google non adhesive vinyl wiring harness tape this what they were originally
wrapped with. It allows access to the the wires in the harness and can be re wrapped if not brittle and dirty.
I got mine from eBay

The non adhesive harness tape is very stretchy so when you are wrapping the harness pull it tight along the way. Then lock in the ends with a couple of wraps of regular electrical tape. There are probably other ways to do it but this works well for me.

Painless has it. I got it thru Summit,Wasn't cheap like $14 a roll.Was enough to do under hood and some under dash before running out. 2 rolls did the job.

But I base my thinking on what it was like when it was only 11 years old.
