Bare heads with valves, painted 67 turquoise. Great shape but will need to be checked over before installing. Planned to use them for a GTX build but decided to go aluminum instead. $400 OBO, only on sale for delivery to carlisle next week.

Do they have a "K", or an "L" on the casting?

Casting 2780915
The K casting has the small valve, the L casting has the large Valve.. They aren't the same. They use the same part number, but one went on the HP engine, the other went on all other 440 engines that year.

The hp ones are stamped hp on the front of the head

1967 915 heads, The K head came from a 67' new Yorker single exhaust non HP,with the 1.60 exhaust valve. The L head came from my 67' GTX HP engine with the 1.74 exhaust valve. In 67' K was the VIN# engine designation for the 440 Standard engine. L was the 440 HP.
I hope that helps.

I don't think I have ever seen those letters on the head before. Here are the heads.

very Interesting, I believe yours came from the 383 engine, that used that same head in 1967 only. Since there was no Large exhaust valve available for a 383, Chrysler left out the letters that designated using one or the other on the 440 HP engine. They are still a good closed chamber head. I always wandered how a 383 would run with the 1.74 exhaust and closed chamber. The 68-70 906 open chamber head got the bigger valve anyway.

I thought the 516 was the 383 head in 67, but I havent seen any references for it. These heads are good for a point of compression and good airflow for iron nonetheless. Thanks for the pictures!

you are right the 516 was used, and the 915 was as well. Both numbers show being used on the 383. I believe the 915 was used on the 325 HP engine, although I don't have one of those around to verify. The mopar parts book does show both heads on the 383 in 1967.

I built a 383 with the 915 heads that came off of a buddies blown 440 67 X. The 383 ran pretty good and kept up with other 440 HP cars of the day with a mild cam, intake and headers.
