I need an EGR valve for a 400/440 high performance engine (with the thermoquad carb). The mounting holes are about 2" apart center-to-center. Thanks.
What year? Does it matter? I have one from a 1973 B Body 400 2bbl. I can provide pics.
Oh wait you said thermoquad carb! 2bbl won't work will it?
No, the 2 bbl EGR valve mounted longitudinally and the holes were further apart than 2"; the four bbl one mounted crosswise, and in addition to the mounting holes being closer together it was shaped differently. With the large thermoquad carb and large dual snorkel air cleaner that sits pretty low on the intake manifold there really isn't a lot of room for the EGR valve so they had to be shaped so they could be squeezed into the small space that was there.
I found an NOS valve on eBay that LOOKS like the correct one and has the correct hole spacing so I ordered it last night (and paid too much). Thanks anyway.
If I can get a photo uploader program to work on my computer (which I've been having trouble with) I'll do that. If not I'll just post a scan of the picture in the factory service manual. No problem, I wish I could've been some help. Any chance that you could post a pic when you receive the EGR? So I can have it for a reference in the future.
Thanks
