I want to add power brakes to my 67 coronet. I bought a core assembly from a wrecking yard but they did not provide me the stiffening plate that goes on the firewall. I understand it is not the same as the manual plate I have on the car now. I don't know what the differences are or if I can easily modify the existing plate. Any insight is appreciated . Dan

Not sure about 67s but I switched my 70 from manual to power this summer. I just removed the plate from the firewall. Then the new booster m/c assembly bolted right through the firewall. I simply made a gasket myself, put silicone on either side of it and bolted the assembly through the firewall. It helped that I had the seats, dash, and steering column all removed. I also needed to a fulcrum linkage, to attach the brake pedal to the m/c plunger. I found a nice used fulcrum linkage on this site.

Called up Tonys Parts, he had a plate for 55 bucks so I grabbed it.

I think the plate is to reinforce the firewall to keep it from flexing? Metal fatigue and cracking from pushing on the brakes. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Yes it is and should be used

Maybe I'll grab one. Beings I haven't put the dash back together yet.

You can't easily modify the original non-PB plate because the PB plate is larger. At least not as easily as if you were cutting it down in size.

Thank god Tonys Parts had one. Sent the boostereo out to booster dewey in oregon, he always does a nice job.

Fast shipping too
