Hello from Southern California. I've been using these forums for years as my google searches usually takes me here for an answer about my road runner . Thought I would make an account to get some motivation. Got this bird back in 03 while in high school. I wanted a first gen mustang but my dad recommended a 69 road runner because he had one in 72 that he bought for 800 dollars. Glad i took his advice. Wild fires in 07 burned my house/shop down but I was able to push it out into a field and save my prized possession. Did lose the original engine, transmission, seats, front end sheetmetal plus other parts. Due to expense the front end is fiberglass now lol. So really been working on it since 2010, ive done every thing my self other then the machine work. The front end is all rebuild pst bushings and joints, hotchkis strut bars, firm feel ps box, boxed lower control arms, stock torsions. Still need the sway bar what do you guys recommend??
Just started the engine for break in recently. It sounded really mean, nice choppy idle. Still have a good list of tasks to complete to get it on the road . It has a 741 2.76 so I need to change gears out to 3.92 and posi. I have a 742 in a 66 polara parts car that I'll use as the carrier. I've been liking the 6al2 with locked out distributor. I have it set at Around 12 degrees start , 20 idle, 35 total. All in at 2500 but I'll play around with it ...what do you guys think? Cam is XE275HL, heads are edelbrock victor copies but with some decent valves and retainers. Performer Rpm intake . 800 cfm carb. Pretty standard 383 after that Kyb pistons, stock forged rods/ crank, roller chain, hv oil pump, around 10.5 compression. Need to buy the exhaust because one of my ear drums has fluid coming out of it from the conclusion waves this thing produces lol. I'm thinking the 3 inch aluminized from summit with thrush welded mufflers.
Thanks

Welcome to FBBO from NorCal

General discussion forum section too,

This is only the welcome wagon
it really isn't intended for a Q&A or tech section...

Looks pretty good so far

Good luck & Happy Moparing

Did the fire get hot enough that your original engine and transmission were destroyed?

Wow.

Wow.
The 727 turned into a lump of aluminum but I pulled the 383 out and still have it . It's in the bushes I don't like looking at it. The block may still be good but I bet all the fasteners are rusted and seized .its nice to have the original parts but I hope to not have to sell the car.

Welcome! Its great you saved it from the fire. It looks good so far and sounds like a good build. That original block will add value to your car it may be worth it to strip it and save it.

Welcome.. Good to see another RR post car. Maybe we can help each other out on assembly. I will probably have a few questions
