check out this old B body picture

Sort of perplexing as there are shackles that raise the rear and yet the front still is a bit higher than rear. Would assume the T- bars were also turned up as the it's sitting higher than stock. In the older days (a 50's thing) guys liked to have the front elevated and rear lower and then it was the rage to pop the rear up. In my pin there's a fine line where the car sits real nice with slightly elevated rear and slightly lower front to give the car a mean stance w/o getting too radical either way or messing with handling issues...

...that's what I said on fender badges-

Small block- "v8"

Big block- "commando v-8"
(on an A body a 273-4 would also get this)

I've seen blank hood ornaments (six cyl), "v8" (273) and "318", "361", "383" and "440" (in 67)

Was it different for 273 between 66 and 67?

My father's 4 dr Citron Gold 273 had V8 emblem on the front end of the fenders, and no number on the back of the hood ornament, but the die cast image of the Mayflower just like the front.
I don't think I've ever seen a hood ornament for a 66 that had 273 or 318 vertically on the backside of the ornament......maybe a 318....this is where memory gets fuzzy trying to remember something that may not have ever existed.

I have tried here to put the car into correct 66 PP1 red, which

I don't really like as much as 65 PP1 red. Almost repainted my 66 in the 65 color because it's warmer and brighter.

This picture looks like it's in a park near the river I grew up by.
And the shackles are not full up, but the torsion bars are pretty cranked.
This guy wanted his car have his car exactly this stance.. F'n cool circa 1970.

Full Gary Indiana mode engaged...

Dat car, like, it be UP.. jussa bit.. bofways, but jus' right...bof ways.

I love Gary Indiana.
I wish I could save it.

Is it just me, or is the front end up a little. Like maybe a small block is sitting between the fenders.
The car is higher than stock all the way around, small block or not.

My first car was a 66 Belvedere II with a poly 318 and it had the call out facing the driver on the hood ornament. I left it on when I swapped in a 383 in early 1970. It also had the V eight call out on the fenders. Not sure what the Satellites had since their trim package was totally different than the Belvederes.

OK then.....
There was a 318 backside 66 ornament.
What color-cast was the 318...silvery???

Engine badging was uniform across Belvedere and Satellite in 66.

But what a crazy year.
Available engines, in any Belvedere body:
225
273
318 poly
361 2 bbl
383 4 bbl
426 2- 4 bbl..
Just check the boxes off the right way and you can have the most incredible station wagon ever.

67s had small numbers at the bottom of the boat.

I have 67's and I've never seen a 273.

I can't say I've ever seen a 66 273 either.

That's beautimal.
I have two 383s, original is more goldish, spare is more silverish. I think the original gold like one is in storage, and the car has worn the more silverish replacement since the early 80s.
I had always expected to have it get broken so I saved the original and the car has worn "the breaker" ever since...

I bought the ornament 25/30 years ago it's NOS. Was going to pull the 318 sticker out and put a 426 replacement repo, can't bring myself to do it. Never saw a 273 either might just say V8. None of the repo's are that good, some are close. The numbers are to bold and not raised. Saw a couple of 426 nos bt slow on the draw or to much money, $895!!

There's a guy in my town with a 67 Satty, he claims it to be a 273 originally. I don't know if he's right or not

Great photo. The wheel covers are the same as the ones that came on my Hemi Satellite.

Dat be da one that was on mine.

Years ago I met a guy with a 66 273 car and can't remember the ornament having anything on it. My present /6 car doesn't either. Also, this guy I knew lived only a few miles from me and I used to see him driving around quite often. It was a 4dr car. We finally met when he stopped me when I was driving around in mine and asked if I had any parts available. It was kinda funny that he didn't know the car had a spare tire well in it. Asked him why didn't he put the spare in the well when he opened the trunk to show me what he needed. His reply was "what well". The parts he needed was the stuff to hold the spare tire in place and once he moved the mat, the original spare was in the hole safely screwed down!

I do believe he's talking about the hood ornament saying 273.....

Just looked in my 66 parts book 273 isn't listed as an ornament with a decal. The 273 came with the base ornament.
