Getting Gas Behind the License Plate

I'm looking for practical ideas how to hold the license plate down when I get gas. I tried to wedge the fuel cap between the tag and bumper trick but it just pops out.

Anybody have a suggestion that works?

You could remove the springs and rubber bumpers and mount a couple magnets there? Or go steal a bracket off an old G body like a cutlass or Monte Carlo plenty of them in the scrap yard

I just let the nozzle hold it open.

Also the newer gas pumps have short hoses now...What a pain to reach when filling a old B body.

Squat down and stay there. Since owning the car in 1988, only fueled twice without spilling.

A hot, young brunette in high heels would be my first pick, but I usually use my left hand or the nozzle to hold the license plate down.

If I had a dollar for every license plate car that I filled back in the day! I pumped a lot of gas back then. I used the gas cap wedge quite a bit. Normally there's a bolt or screw there to catch it on so it doesn't slip.

I like 1967Coronet440's idea with the magnets.

Here in Kalifornia, I can NOT put gas in my cars that have the filler neck behind the License Plate without spilling the gas all over the place.
AND: It is because of the Kalifornia style "Handle" that has the spring loaded vacuum seal on it.

They are known as: "Healy Vapor-Lock"

I'm wanting to install a flip cap from a Charger that I have on my 74 Roadrunner so I don't have to use the license plate method anymore, but I can't find a good spot to install it.

Vapor recovery system, what a Freakin joke that is. I can't even fill my daily driver with that ****, so glad I'm gone!

I used to own a rare 1956 Chevy Handyman with a gas inlet behinf the left tail light.

I was wondering about something.
Has anyone ever seen if a top quarter panel mounted fill system could be put on a 68-70 Plymouth? (Charger style)
In other words if the Plymouth trunk pan could accept a Dodge tank, cut holes and a Dodge fill neck be substituted to move the fill?
The under tag fill is not only difficult a rear end hit could cause leaks.
