How true

Sadly, both pictures have happened to us all

I told an officer once that the ticket he was giving me for parking diagonally across two spaces was cheaper than paint and bodywork.

OK, how many of us NEVER looked sideways? lol. Jeez, you almost didn't have a choice in boot camp/basic.

I don't get when guys break the unspoken urinal code. Dude give me some room unless you are checking me out.

I remember basic training in 1975, open bay restrooms with crappers right next to each other without partitions, shower heads 4 feet apart so you almost had to shower together. Never happen today. They were that way for a reason though. Say your unit of 482 souls is out in the field in war or peacetime, and after the end of the day people begin migrating to the trench latrine dug nearby. You may be squatting over the trench along with 40 other guys, or more. Now they all have little safe bathrooms for everyone and air conditioned little trailers to live in and sexual harassment laws. What a way to run an Army.

Ain't that the truth. Have you seen a "mess hall" recently? They are more like a cafeteria.

I have. We stopped in to a forward operating base ( FOB) in Iraq to strap up with some more ammo and replace some gear, pick up med supplies etc. We got to go eat in one of the " dining facilities". Unbelievable. Like a giant restaurant where you can have just about anything you can think of and at any time. Tough duty. Soldiers walking around with their gear on like they are mini Rambo's or something. Big guts hanging over their belts, well fed, well groomed and pampered. Never see a shot fired in anger their entire tour. That's real live combat man! lol. First meal I had in a month that didn't slither out of a tan bag.

Ranger 16- speaking of mess halls, did you know you can go to USMC museum in Quantico,Va. and order a beer? Swear to God..They have a mess hall cafeteria and a neighboring tavern where spirits are available. WE always try to do it better!

Overheard a SFC instructing a private, over dessert about how to operate their radio gear. I looked at my pal and said " God, I hope they never let these two outside the wire, they'll never see them again unless it's on TV getting their silly heads wacked off by a curved sword"

Times haven't changed- WE are just better,LOL.

The local nationals always said they could smell the Americans before they saw them. Smelled like soap and deodorant.
